President's Message

 

We ended January with a terrific event for Emerging Professionals. A panel of ASID Ohio North design professionals and remarkable entrepreneurs offered their comments on business development ideas and professional experiences to a group of emerging professionals and students.  

 

Sincere thanks to: Amy Douglass, Allied ASID; Laura Gills, ASID; John Koncar, ASID; and Sandy Varelmann, ASID, for their terrific contribution to the success of the event. The speakers commented on how valuable the panel discussion was to them as well; giving them a chance to collaborate and hear business observations from colleagues!

 

Thank you to Therese Kish, Allied ASID, Emerging Professional Chair, and Kaleigh Cody, Allied ASID, Membership Director, for organizing the event, moderating it and offering a warm welcome to all in attendance. Stay tuned to more "After Hours" panel discussions.  If you have suggestions for a topic feel free to contact us. The open forum format is a terrific opportunity to discuss a variety of industry relevant topics.

 

I attended ASID Presidents Forum a few weeks ago in Texas. I had a chance to run away from Cleveland's snow for a few days and be greeted by the southern warm hospitality of Dallas, Texas. What a terrific opportunity for leadership development, in addition to personal and professional growth that goes beyond ASID. During the last day of training ASID Ohio North was presented with a Presidential Citation for participating and exceeding our fundraising contribution goal to the ASID Foundation in 2012. Thanks to our members who helped with it by participating at last year's Annual Meeting.  

 

As we look forward to warmer weather in Ohio, do not forget to mark your calendars for the meetings, events and educational opportunities this month, March and April.
