President's Message
November is a month to celebrate, be thankful and to make important decisions.
- Celebration -Celebrate autumn with its vigorous and triumphant colors before its decline (winter) - hope you have had a chance to get out and photograph some amazing colorful foliage!
- Giving Thanks - Thanksgiving is a time to join and give thanks in a community - Thanks to all volunteers of the ASID OH North Chapter, past, present and future ones!
- Decision Making - We just had a chance to contribute to decision making at the national level during the past elections - hope you all exercised your right to vote for our nation's president.
According to Randy Fiser, CEO ASID, designers also have a reason to celebrate and be hopeful this fall as "indicators for the industry have begun to point in a positive direction." Research was completed and can be accessed via the "State of the Industry" report- providing an overview of the Design industry, including its size, its scope and financial impact. The report relates how the "interior design industry is contributing to the economy as well as the health and well being of all Americans." To access the report visit: www.asid.org.
Thanks to all who participated on the successful Fall Mixer event at Hinkley Lighting on November 5th. What a terrific turn out of practitioner, industry and student members! We had the honor to host representatives from ASID National and CST members that evening as well. Rick McCosh, Director of Chapter Services and Rick Peluso, CFO, spoke about the State of the Society and helped kick off RWDW (Real World Design Week). Participants had a chance to network, hear about the design concept and interior design decisions from the designer of the spaces, and tour the new facilities of Hinkley Lighting Headquarters in Avon Lake, OH.
Make another important decision by joining the chapter's new Sponsorship Program. This fall the ASID Ohio North Chapter is very excited to announce our new sponsorship program. Contributions at different sponsorship level will provide recognition for you and your company, as well as networking opportunities with a wide variety of designers. For more information, please contact us at (330)598-1861 or admin@asidohio.org. We look forward to helping you promote your business while helping the ASID Ohio North Chapter continue to provide quality programs - To get the most out of your sponsorship return the Sponsorship form by January 15, 2013.
Do not forget, as a member you are always welcome to participate in the decision making process of your local chapter as well. We thank all volunteers who have been consistently helping with our efforts; celebrate the chance to learn about leadership opportunities and stay involved!
Hope you have a great start of the Holiday Season! Happy Thanksgiving!
Best regards,
Cristina McCarthy, M.S., Allied ASIDPresident 2012-2013
