The Jayhawk Project
After initially opening its doors in 1926, the Jayhawk Theatre has held many performances and film showings throughout the years. After closing in 1976, the Jayhawk has passed through the owners but is now making a comeback in the Topeka Community.
Partner Jeff Carson said, "We are working hard to build a state of the art movie theatre here. Topeka needs another entertainment venue and the 900 seat Jayhawk Theatre will be a real jewel for the community. We will program independent films, art films, film festivals and small live events. We have restructured the board and our strategic objectives. We are ramping up the fundraising effort. The goal is to create a modern comfortable space with all state-of-the-art lighting, projection and sound. I can't wait to get started on the renovation."
