Personnel Changes at HCC           
Henderson Community College's Workforce Solutions Department is experiencing personnel change and opportunities.

Workforce Solutions Liaison Joe Milazzo is leaving HCC to take a training position with a local leading industry. Joe has been an excellent representative for HCC and he'll be missed. We wish him well in his new endeavors.

HCC is now searching for a new Director for the Workforce Solutions area. The official position title is Director of Community, Workforce, and Economic Development--and you can see the position posting online. Please share with individuals you think would be a great candidate for HCC and Business and Industry partners!

Meet New IMT Program Coordinator Tony Mercer
In early August, Randy Owens retires from HCC. His position has been filled on a 12-month schedule basis with new instructor and program coordinator Tony Mercer.

Tony has over 25 years of Industrial Electrical experience in the skilled trades. He has worked with PLC's, robotics, process and instrumentation controls, electronics, as well as industrial electricity and motor controls. His career spans work in manufacturing, railroads, and power plants. Tony holds an active Kentucky State license as a Master Electrician and a Contractor Electrician.

Tony has taught classes for Madisonville Community College in their Advanced Integrated Technology Department - electrical PLC, robotics, hydraulics, pneumatics, motor controls, and instrumentation and process controls. He has also taught electrical classes, motor controls and PLC classes, and robotics through corporate training. Tony has taught for the state of Kentucky continuing education classes for electricians, master electricians, and contractor electricians. We look forward to Tony's leadership in the classroom and program. 


Employee Enrollment for Fall Term at HCC          
Invest in your employees! 
Do you have employees ready to move forward? Want them to have stronger business administration, HR, accounting, industrial maintenance, computer information, welding or other skills in math, writing, public speaking? HCC is ready to develop your workforce through credit programs leading to certificates and degrees.

Enrollment and registration are going on now for classes beginning August 15th. Steps for registration may be found online.

Classes are offered in the classroom and online, during the day and in the evenings to help your employees meet their work schedules. Share the Admissions website link with your employees--or email Dr. Kris Williams to have an HCC representative come to your place of business to visit with interested employees.

New/Specialty Classes            
NEW!  American Sign Language - Level One
This is a beginning class to teach the basics of communicating in American Sign Language (ASL) and to assist individuals to gain an understanding of Deaf culture. This is a level one course for beginners and for people who may know some signs but have not had training in grammar or linguistics. Topics covered include the alphabet, finger spelling, greetings, family and friends, colors, numbers, sentence structure, as well as Deaf culture and history.  This course meets every Tuesday from 4 pm-5:30 pm and starts tonight, July 12; ending September 13, 2016. Prep for CompTIA A+ Certification

The A+ certification is an internationally recognized validation of the technical knowledge required by foundation-level IT practitioners. Topics covered include: PC hardware, networking, laptops printers, operating systems, security, mobile devices and troubleshooting. This course is administered online starting August 15, 2016 and ending December 5, 2016. Price includes: instruction, textbook, TestOut A+ software and a CompTia A+ certification exam. Henderson Community College, in partnership with ed2go, offers online open enrollment programs designed to provide the skills necessary to acquire professional level positions for many in-demand occupations.

Commercial Driver's License Classes

truck2 CDL classes are offered through
 Henderson Community College and Lake Cumberland CDL School. Classes take place in Sebree, Kentucky, at the Carhartt Building, 160 Carhartt Road, near the intersection of I69 and Highway 56. Interested in the training? Call 877-308-9638 for information. Classes can begin as quickly as every two weeks, depending on demand. Classes offer 160 hours of instruction, Monday - Thursday, 7 am - 5 pm, for $4,000 per student. Financial assistance may be available for individuals through the Green River Area Development District (GRADD) 270.831.9662 or through the Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (Voc Rehab) 270.831.9667.
