President's Perspective
Dr. Kris Williams

Community College Month and Adult Education Month: This month we are celebrating our mission, our students, and our faculty and staff on the Henderson and Herron Center campuses. We are inviting the community in to many events to see all that happens at both sites. Events include an Open House on Wednesday, April 20, from 5-7 p.m. at both campuses--please tell all your friends to bring their high school students and others who need to expand their knowledge and skills!

Enrollment Update: Are you actively advising current and potential students? Right now we have around 800 current students who have not yet registered for fall! From Brian McMurtry, "Fall 2016 enrollment flattened out considerably this last week. We are behind 2015 YTD enrollment figures from 12-14% in all categories, with only 191 credential-seeking students enrolled. It is a bit early to start projecting our expected fall totals, but apart from vigorous efforts to enroll these students now, we could be looking at a decrease from last fall...Summer 2016 total enrollment is ahead of 2015 by 27%, and is behind Summer 2014 by 24%. All dashboards can be accessed online."

Thank You!; to all faculty for completing their 60% attendance reports for spring 2016 by this Friday, April 8. Your help makes a huge difference in lowering the amount of Return to Title IV (R2T4) funds for which the college becomes liable as students don't complete coursework. Please contact your Division Assistant or Andy Zellers if you need assistance.

New Maple Trees: Twelve large heritage Sugar Maples were planted Monday and Tuesday on the edge of the parking lot at the front of the STC thanks to generous donations from Scott Keach, Cass Wilson and Kurt Wilson. They will look lovely in the spring and fall as one enters or exits from Sandy Watkins Way.

New Henderson County Events Calendar: This all-in-one community calendar is a team effort of the Henderson County Tourist Commission and the City of Henderson. The more events and meetings entered, the more valuable it becomes to both find great things to do and to ensure your event doesn't compete with another.

Volunteer Opportunity: HCHS needs you! Volunteers can be part of a scoring panel as seniors present their senior projects. If you are interested in helping out please review the schedule--The link will take you to a scheduling website and allow you to sign up for one or more slots using your name and email address.
