Health Careers Fair - All Majors Invited
 
FAFSA Fridays!
On Fridays this spring, Henderson Community College Financial Aid will host FAFSA Fridays. This will be an opportunity for both new and continuing HCC students to receive one-on-one guidance and assistance in completing the 2016-2017 Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. Assistance will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Friday through May 6th in the Start Center, located in the Sullivan Technical Center, 2nd floor. 
 
To receive federal financial aid students must complete the online FAFSA application prior to the start of each academic year. The application and all required paperwork must be submitted prior to the college's Fall Financial Aid Priority Deadline Date of July 15, 2016. Come in and let the professionals help you!
 
Walk-ins are encouraged and no appointment is necessary. Please bring tax paperwork for both yourself and your parents if you are a dependent student. This includes 2015 tax paperwork and W-2s. Please contact HCC Financial Aid at 270-831-9627 for more details.

 
FREE Lunch and Learn
WorkSkills: Steps to Your Success hosted from 11 am to 1 pm in Joe's Place.     business_young_woman.jpg

FREE soft skills workshops with lunch included for the following groups in Union, Webster and Henderson Counties: small business owners and their employees, unemployed and under-employed adults, economically underprivileged adults, and minorities and women who are underrepresented in the workforce.

Sessions are two hours each. Topics include:
  • What it Takes to Succeed: the Basic Principles, February 4
  • Getting the Information You Need, February 18
  • Speaking with Confidence, March 3
  • Positive Responses to Change, March 17
  • Defusing Emotionally Charged Situations, March 31
  • Helping Your Team Work, April 14
  • Managing Life Outside Work: Handling Emergencies And Resisting Temptations, April 28

Tutoring
The tutoring schedule can be found online here! Tutoring is available in almost every subject with various opportunities throughout the week.
 
The Writing Center is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and by appointment on Fridays. The Center is located in ADM205. Contact Bill Gary or Cheryl McKendree if you need to schedule or have any questions. 
 
Open Math Lab every Friday from 8:30 to 12:30 p.m. in STC202. You can find individual instructor times on the website also.  
  
LearningExpress Library is now available through the Kentucky Virtual Library. This free resource is available to all KCTCS students who register their email address. Use the hyperlink, "Register" an account using your KCTCS credentials and do not complete the fields for Student ID and Course Section. If you have any questions, please call the Library at 270-831-9760.

Duncan's is open Monday through Thursday, 7:30 am to 2 pm. Weekly specials are available and new menu items include spicy fries, fried cheddar cheese balls and soft serve funnel ice cream sandwiches.

WHERE'S WASHINGTON?
The HCC History Club needs your help to find George Washington in time for President's Day. He is popping up all over campus. Take a selfie with each Washington (13 in all) and post it to the Henderson Community College History Club Facebook page. The person who posts the most selfies with Washington by February 15 will win a Barnes and Noble gift card. Good Luck!

HARTFIELD LIBRARY
  
 Do you learn better by watching rather than reading? If you do, HCC's library has a useful tool for you. The library subscribes to the database, Films on Demand. Films on Demand offers over 22,000 videos that you can stream from any computer with Internet access. These videos include instructional videos like Nursing Care Plans and Strategies. If you don't know how to access or use this database, stop by the library and let us show you!

Methodist Hospital will be on campus Thursday, February 11th to offer free HgbA1C testing from 9am-11am in the cyber caf�. Methodist Hospital will be using new technology that only requires a finger stick and you will receive your results the day of the screening. This event is open to HCC employees and family members, and students. To learn more, email Carole Mattingly or call extension 19786. Brought to you by the Wellness Committee.
