Spontaneous Healing and Spontaneous Living:
Living your Authentic Life.
We are Better if we are Warm and we have Good Elimination - Poop Regularly!!
Dear Friends & Colleagues,
What's does your Poop & Body Temperature have to do with your Hormones, your Detoxification Ability and your Mental Clarity?
Here are two simple questions?
1) How many times do you poop a day?
2) Is your core temperature near 98.6+ 0.3F ?
"It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so."- Mark Twain
So many people walk into my practice on any given day with a variety of complaints from chronic cold intolerance, weight gain, headache/chronic pain, constipation, hair thinning & falling out, puffy face, high cholesterol, brain fog, poor focus, depression, frequent infections, even cancer: Symptoms among these people may vary, but they all share one common challenge: Under functional thyroid.
Thyroid hormone involves in three main functions "(1) Upgrading our cellular "furnace" (mitochondria) integrity (2) Manufacturing mineral pumps on the cell surface to create a living battery (increase the cell voltage) (3) instructing the pituitary to make growth hormone."- Dr. William Ferril MD
So why are so many told their thyroid is fine BECAUSE their lab tests are normal? So many people go on suffering from this insidious and unrelenting condition?
The problem with many thyroid and endocrine disorders is that they may occur slowly over several decades. The average physician has virtually stopped physically examining their patients and taking the time to listen to their medical history and complaints. One best written book on this subject that has changed my life forever is Dr. Mark Starr's book called: HYPOTHYROIDISM TYPE 2
So back to our hormones: Low thyroid->sluggish metabolism->low body temperature and slow digestion->slow detox-->live buildup of toxins and hormones (sex hormones particularly)--> WHEN YOUR LIVER is not happy__> angry, bad breath, constipated more, eyes burning, rash, toothaches, bloated, inflammation...and then the worst? T4 (pro-thyroid hormone) can not be converted to active T3 (the real biological active thyroid), HGH can not be converted well to IGF- a big part of living well, estrogen gets stuck in the liver and hormonal chaos.....
It is so important and essential to have proper metabolism and elimination from living daily in our toxic and stress laden environment. The organs which aid in metabolizing and eliminating are the thyroid, liver, kidney, digestive system and the skin. As we age these organs become sluggish and clogged so maintaining a healthy metabolism is difficult. This is where thyroid hormones, temperature, and poop become very important. Sex hormones are metabolized in the liver and eliminated through the gall bladder digestive tract. The transient time in the colon becomes important because so many of the hormones are recycled back through the liver via the hepatic ileum recycle. It is important to poop two-three times a day, not just to help the metabolism of hormones one takes, but also the hormones/toxins one receives from the environment. Our liver accumulates toxins as we age and it is estimated that 40-50% of Americans have fatty liver disease. At middle age this further creates trouble in the conversion of T4 to T3 in the liver. I believe we are experiencing a silent epidemic of hypothyroidism which can be diagnosed with low body temperature and infrequent bowel movements, even if your labs state otherwise.
So we need an healthy clean liver to keep our thyroid healthy.
These are the major factors I consider when looking at the health of my patient's and guiding them back to health.
1. Take your morning temperature (under your armpit for two minutes with a non mercury oral thermometer called a basal thermometer). Normal waking temperature needs to be 97.8 or higher. Do this before you get out of bed for seven days straight.
2. What about your Poop? Do you go two-three times a day? Is the consistency solid? Do you have floaters or sinkers? Are you constipated often?
3. Have you had your iodine levels checked? We are exposed to too much chloride, bromium, and fluoride which are all competitors for iodine transporter thus
diminishing our iodine. The best test is a 24 hour urine test made by Labrix. It's important for one's iodine level to be greater than 90% in urine. If it's low it needs to be replaced.
4. Are your sex hormones balanced and at optimal levels?
5. Take some action to clean your liver EVERY DAY.
Here's what I do:
designed multi-vitamin product and choose Immune and Female all in one , Glutathione and a super food like Oki -containing 17 superberries; I call my liver juice.
- A good clean protein powder with Chia seeds
