MENTORS WANTED!

Register by September 27!

The UC San Diego Mentorship program is in search of seasoned career employees who will be willing to mentor fellow employees for six months. This is a great opportunity to share your knowledge and experience with other UC San Diego staff members. Mentors will only need to meet with their mentees for one hour each month over the six month period.

The next session begins on October 1, 2013. Register by Friday, September 27 at https://mentorship.ucsd.edu/.

Mentoring is an excellent chance to use your skills, talent, and experiences with your mentee. Mentors and mentees are matched by mutual interest, career goals and valued attributes. It is an opportunity to make a difference in another person's professional growth. You will encourage and guide a fellow employee to ensure that they will be equipped for the next phase of their career.

UC San Diego mentors benefit from:

- Mentor training and resources

- Personal contacts throughout the University from Networking Mixers

- A certificate of appreciation & a letter to your Vice Chancellor

Contact Career Connection at (858) 822-2633 or career@ucsd.edu for more information.

AIDS Walk San Diego

September 29 | 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Balboa Park

Hello Friends,

This year, more than ever, being a part of the UC San Diego AIDS Walk Team really counts!

AIDS Walk San Diego is donating back 85% of what our team raises (from $2,500-$10,000) to UCSD HIV/AIDS service programs. Additionally, both they and the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation are matching that donation, for a potential return of 255% of what the UC San Diego team raises. If we reach the maximum matched goal of $10,000, we stand to bring in $25,500.

UC San Diego programs that are eligible to receive matching are:

Please take a moment to look at these four amazing programs that give so much to the San Diego community. When you register for the team, please send an email to Ian Morton, imorton@ucsd.edu, to let him know if you would like your percentage of the funds raised to go toward one specific program OR be split evenly between the four.

Also, please forward this email to your colleagues and friends who want to walk for a great cause. Hope to see you on Sunday, September 9th at AIDS Walk San Diego 2013!

Gender-Neutral Bathrooms Petition

University of California, San Diego

The UC Academic Student Workers Union has included a link to an online petition that they are circulating in support of increased access to gender-neutral bathrooms across all UC campuses. This is one of their proposals at the bargaining table this summer, and are trying to counter management's argument that this is not a work-related issue. They feel that it is, and they ask members to sign on to support this proposal that is currently being debated between the union and management.

Lambda Archives Student Volunteer & Internship Opportunities

Lambda Archives
Lambda Archives' student volunteer and internship program is now accepting students for the Fall semester. Lambda Archives offers the opportunity for full internships (120-150 hours) as well as shorter term "volunteer" work (10-20 hours) that some professors offer as an alternative to a test or a paper in relevant courses.

The work at Lambda Archives gives students direct hands-on experience with the "stuff" of history, and is relevant to such various majors and coursework as LGBT Studies, Women's Studies, History of Sexuality, US and World History, Sociology, Political Science, and more. Students would work on various projects based on their interests, skills, and available work at the archives. A big project this semester is Photograph Digitization of some of our over 100,000 historical images.
