Mark your calendars for this year's Out and Proud Week! Out and Proud Week presents the largest opportunity for community visibility on the UCSD campus. It is a week-long group celebration and private reflection on the achievements of LGBTQI-identified students, staff, and faculty and our allies. It is also a time for public awareness and discussion of current LGBT issues on the state and national levels. We will table on Library Walk all week and will also have events each day. Vanidy Bailey will be a guest speaker. For more information or if you'd like to volunteer, please contact Shaun at stravers@ucsd.edu

Kick off this year's Out and Proud Week with a brown bag lunch on Library Walk by the rainbow balloon arch! We want ALL members of the LGBT community and our allies to be visible at the center of campus. Enjoy your lunch with friends and community around you.

 

Graduate Student Kick-Back

Queer Mentor Appreciation Party

April 23 | 6:00pm-8:00 pm 

LGBT Resource Center, Family Room

 

Celebrate Out & Proud Week by showing appreciation to your mentor(s). This process looks different to every individual. Our mentors may help us to be out to ourselves, to others, or even just to help us to get in life. We will be creating community art that will be displayed in the Resource Center to value those mentors, and creating thank you cards to give to our mentors.



Queer Black Film Series Showing: "The Skinny"

This film series focuses on the intersection of sexuality, race and gender as they are enacted through cinema and film. It seeks to bring to light how Blackness is performed within cinematic spaces, and how the multiple intersections of blackness are deployed through film. The Skinny is a feature film from award-winning writer/director Patrik-Ian Polk, tells the story of five black Brown University classmate s- four gay men and one lesbian - reuniting in the Big Apple for a weekend of sin, fun, secrets, lies and drama.

Take Back the Night

April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and UC San Diego remembers and activates our community on these issues with a speak out called Take Back The Night. Please attend this powerful evening, as we acknowledge the intersection of sexual violence and our community, and support those most deeply impacted by the sexual violence in our community.
