Transitions at UC San Diego, Robin's Departure

Dear LGBT Resource Center Community,

Robin Nussbaum's last day at UC San Diego was yesterday, January 29, 2013.  I encourage you to stay in touch with our Center, our community and the team during this transition time. Each of you is vital to our community, its success and our ability to be affect campus climate for the better.  With Robin's transition out of the position, Michelle and I will both take on interim responsibilities to cover the work.  We will also strategically manage our programmatic and educational outreach so as to continue to meet our mission while being short staffed.

Thank you for your commitment to our work, our Center and our community.  If you have specific questions or concerns, please contact me directly and I would be happy to address them.

Shaun Travers, Ed.D.
Campus Diversity Officer & Director of the
Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Center

Introducing:
Samuel Carrillo
Preuss Intern

Howdy folks! I am Samy Carrillo a high school senior at the Preuss School UCSD and I am a current intern here at the LGBT Resource Center. I've enjoyed meeting so many new and interesting folks here at the center and look forward to learning a bit more from all of you. As a youngster among all of you I am eager to learn many new things and building a sense of community. I hope to take with me lessons I learn here at the center when I start my own college adventure. Peace, Love and Caffeine.

Queer Masculinities: A Critical Reader in Education

Queer Masculinities: A Critical Reader in Education is a new book that is a substantial addition to the discussion of queer masculinities, of the interplay between queer masculinities and education, and to the political gender discourse as a whole.  Enriching the discourse of masculinity politics, the cross-section of scholarly interrogations of the complexities and contradictions of queer masculinities in education demonstrates that any serious study of masculinity-hegemonic or otherwise-must consider the theoretical and political contributions that the concept of queer masculinity makes to a more comprehensive and nuanced understanding of masculinity itself.

You can read this e-book here: http://roger.ucsd.edu:80/record=b7246966~S9  and remember, the UCSD Library has many books on issues that you care about!!!
