As we enter the holiday season, we wanted to take a look back and see what has been accomplished during the first few months of school at GES.
- The PTA has purchased the New AR program that allows our students to take AR tests on the 1000's of AR books available, not just the books available in our school library. Students can now read e-books or check out books from the public library and take tests on those as well. Research has show the more students read the better readers they become.
- We have had our 1st quarter Paws Celebration with the Boogie on the blacktop with the students loved.
- Our first Fall Festival in a long time was a huge success thanks to the commitment of our staff and PTA.
- We have increased parent involvement and are kicking off a Male Involvement program on Tuesday, with Doughnuts for Dads. We have parents helping in the library, in the classroom, with events and from home.
- We have also kicked off a reading buddies program, to help our students become better readers and find the joy in reading.
- The PTA has been working to help 5th Grade raise money for the Washington DC field trip, as well as talking with each grade level to see what they "wish for" to help make a investment in their grade levels and classrooms.
- We also want to thank all of the parents and community members who stopped in on Nov. 4 during the Guilford County Schools Walk in to support our GES Staff. Our GES staff is special, and we want them to know how much we appreciate all they do for our students.
- There is so much more happening at GES, so stop in and see what is happening in the lives of our students.
