GES book fair starts next week- October 21.  Your help is needed to make this the best book fair ever.  Could you volunteer before school, during school, after school, or at night- please click here and sign up. We have over 600 students coming through the book fair and want to make this an enjoyable experience for them with enough volunteers

Good evening!  This is Kris Vecchione, principal of Guilford Elementary, calling with a few important announcements for the week of October 14th

 
October is National Disability Awareness Month.  We want to celebrate all students and the beauty in each one of them! 
 
Please be reminded that we will have our last Fall Early Release on Wednesday, October 16th which means we will dismiss two hours early.  

Also on this day, and every 3rd Wednesday of the month, we will have Rio Grande Spirit Day from 12-9 pm.  10% of all proceeds go to Guilford Elementary School and Kids eat FREE ALL DAY on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays with the purchase of an adult meal. 
 
The theme for this year's Fall Book Fair is "Reading Oasis: A Cool Place to Discover Hot Books!" Our Book Fair will open on Monday, October 21st and will run through Friday, October 25th.  However, our ONLINE Book Fair will open even earlier!  Between Sunday, October 13th through Saturday, November 2nd, you can access the ONLINE Book Fair by visiting the GES Website, clicking on the PTA page, and following the link to the ONLINE Book Fair.
 
We are looking forward to Book Fair week and have many exciting events planned.  Please mark your calendars for the Book Fair Family Night on Tuesday, October 22nd from  5pm-8pm.  This is open to all families!  We also will have a Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade Harvest Performance at 6:30 pm in our Multipurpose Room.

A Totally New AR Experience

As part of our Initiative to Support Reading at GES, the PTA has purchased the new AR program. This program is designed to help teachers and librarians manage and monitor children's independent reading practice.
