Community Support and GES
|
Building Community Support:
Along with building our GES community, we are also building partnerships with those around us.
We are continuing partnerships with business and community sponsors from previous years, as well as building bridges with new faces.
To recognize those that are supporting and partnering with GES we are creating a "Community Partnership" board in the GES lobby.
Be sure to check it out and thank those businesses who are partnering with GES.
Let us know if you know of a business or community group that would like to partner with GES.

What is right with GES and GES PTA
|
There is so much to be excited about at GES and the PTA is grateful to be allowed to be part of the wonderful things taking place here.
New Accelerated Reader Program: One of the initiatives of the GESPTA is to support the reading of our students. This
year the PTA will help implement the New AR system, giving students access to ALL the AR quizzes that are available for ALL books coming out as not just the books that were published 4 or more years ago. These quizzes translate into points the students use at the AR store each quarter. This has been a goal, that has been a while in the making and we are exited that it is almost here. If you are not sure what the Accelerated Reader program is- click here for more information and to find out how it benefits out students. Reading Buddies- We have also partnered with GES, Guilford College and the local community to start a reading buddies program.
This program will bring more volunteers into the classroom that will have been trained to work with our students helping them become better readers, as well as build skills that will last a lifetime.
Building Community: Another goal of the PTA is to build the GES community, which we started at the Open house celebration and continued at Skate night. It was so awesome to see parents, students and staff out on the rink having fun, and talking outside of the regular school day.
Being part of the GES community is more then just being in the classroom each day, It is building relationships, learning from each other, and communicating with those around us who have so much to offer.
There are many more events to come that will continue the idea of building our GES community and allowing our students, parents and staff to support each other both in and out of the classroom.
Plugging in at GES- We have also started a campaign called "Plug into GES" where parents and community volunteers are learning how they can plug in and be part of helping our students succeed.
We are starting this year off with more volunteers then we have had in the past. Parents are discovering that to be "plugged in" does not mean be on campus. You can plug in from home, from work, at night, or during the day.
What matters is that students see parents and family supporting them, their school and their classrooms to make GES the best it can be. This would not happen without each and everyone of you. |
