Suniya Qureshi

The British Pakistan Foundation is hosting its third Diaspora Roadshow at the Sheridan Suite Manchester on Friday 16th November.  We are bringing together key practitioners from both Pakistans third sector and the UK British Pakistani community. We aim to celebrate the best of social development work and review the challenges faced by colleagues in the field. Recent events highlighted in the media around Malala Yusufzai has also borught the UK Pakistani community together in supporting the cause of this brave young Pakistani. Silent vogils have been held in Birmingham outside the Queen Elizabeth hospital, where Malala was flown last week by the Government of Pakistan. A day of action will be held for Malala on Saturday 10th November and for the 32 million girls around the world who are not receiving an education. Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown is set to visit Pakistan on the same day to discuss education for girls with President Asif Ali Zardari.  On behalf of the Trustees of the British Pakistan Foundation we would like to wish all our subscribers a peaceful Hajj and

Eid Al-Adha Mubarak

FCO: Speaking Up For Pakistan

I've discovered that many people from Pakistan or connected to Pakistan are asking the same question.  The Telegraph's Rob Crilly explains why he thinks it matters for the big stuff, and challenges Pakistan to work on its PR machine.  The British Pakistan Foundation has given the diaspora a voice directly with the government of Pakistan to explain why this matters and how they can address it. We've been asking British Pakistanis what they would say to speak up for Pakistan in a series of video debates .

UK Aid: pakistan floods 2012

Shelter kits, funded by UKaid from the Department for International Development (DFID) and delivered by Save the Children, are helping people affected by the flooding in Pakistan.

A few days ago, Save the Children's teams assessed the damage in Girlagan and selected the neediest families in the area for distribution of DFID-funded tents and non-food item kits, to provided them with emergency shelter and basic domestic utensils. Since they had lost their home, Nadeem's family was immediately selected to receive this shelter support.
