 Brinker Senior Reception - PTA Scholarship Award

Congratulations to
Meredith Brown
as the winner of the
2013 Brinker PTA Scholarship Award
Brinker had a good turnout of students at its Senior Reception in the school's library recently. Seniors wore their college shirts and mingled with former teachers and students and watched their fifth grade video. During the reception, the Brinker Elementary PTA awarded a $1000 scholarship to former student Meredith Brown. Meredith will be attending Baylor University in the fall.
This is the seventh year for the PTA's scholarship program. Applicants were required to submit a completed application, a high school transcript, a resume, two letters of recommendation and a 500 word essay titled, "How Brinker Impacted My Life". To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must be a graduating senior enrolled in a Plano ISD school who attended Brinker Elementary School for grades three through five and who is enrolling in an accredited undergraduate degree program at a college or university for the 2013-2014 academic year with a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.

Ellis Island Day - 5th Grade
Ellis Island Day for 5th Graders is a simulation of the process in which immigrants attempted to gain citizenship into the United States in the early 1900's. The students are assigned a character from another country and go through different checkpoints in the hopes of finding a better life. It gives the students a glimpse into the greatest human migration in history.

Music speaks when there are no words 
Musicians practice, practice, practice so that they can perfect and perform. TUESDAY TUNES allows Brinker student-musicians the opportunity to showcase their talent (and hard work) in a unique setting! Unlike recitals and stage productions, TUESDAY TUNES takes place in a casual, relaxed environment.
Every Tuesday morning a Brinker student performs in the lobby for students and teachers as they enter the building to start the school day. The student plays his/her instrument continuously from 7:30 am to 7:45 am. Immediately following, the student is introduced as the musician of the day on the "Good Morning Brinker" broadcast!

Don't Miss Out on Ordering School Supply Packets for the 2013-14 School Year!!
The school year is quickly coming to an end. Don't forget to order your child's school supplies for the 2013-14 school year through Brinker PTA's Membership Toolkit. Go to brinkerpta.membershiptoolkit.com and follow the directions to place your order. Order by June 7th and your child's pack will be in the teacher's classroom at "Meet the Teacher" day. Orders placed after June 7th will be delivered by the end of the first week of school.
