FPTA Life Membership - Nominations due tomorrow!

Nominations for Texas PTA

At Brinker, we are so fortunate to have the tremendous support of volunteers and an extremely dedicated faculty. Both strive to provide an outstanding and enriched educational experience in a nurturing environment for our children. There are many deserving individuals serving and helping our students.

One of the ways we recognize individuals for their dedication to children and the community is through the Texas PTA Lifetime Membership. It is the highest honor bestowed upon an individual for outstanding service to children and youth.

If you would like to nominate someone to receive this honor, please fill out the Texas PTA Lifetime Membership Nomination Form and return it to the school office in a sealed envelope to the attention of Shirley Keating by TOMORROW, November 30, 2012. Forms may also be emailed to skeating@brinkerpta.org.

Thank you for taking the time to recognize a deserving individual's efforts!
 OBook Fair Results and Thanks!

Thank You

to our Wonderful

Brinker Families!

Our Fall Book Fair was a huge success thanks to you! It would not have been possible without the countless hours of preparation, set-up, and presence of the many volunteers for the event. On behalf of the Brinker PTA, we wholeheartedly want to thank all who gave their time, as well as all the parents, relatives and Brinker students who bought books and other Scholastic products.

Our In-school Fair and Online Fair combined grossed $16,500. Through your generosity, the Brinker PTA will be able to use the nearly $3,700 in profits from this sale to fund numerous enrichment activities at our school as well as to add exciting new books to our school library. In addition, Brinker families and teachers donated several new books to My Very Own Book, a non-profit organization that runs a literacy program in North Texas.

Reading is the most important skill you can teach a child. Of all the skills children learn, it is the one you can influence the most. Thank you for making reading a priority at Brinker!

 TuesdayTunesTuesday Tunes
Music speaks when there are no words

Musicians practice, practice, practice so that they can perfect and perform. TUESDAY TUNES allows Brinker student-musicians the opportunity to showcase their talent (and hard work) in a unique setting! Unlike recitals and stage productions, TUESDAY TUNES takes place in a casual, relaxed environment.

Every Tuesday morning a Brinker student performs in the lobby for students and teachers as they enter the building to start the school day. The student plays his/her instrument continuously from 7:30 am to 7:45 am. Immediately following, the student is introduced as the musician of the day on the "Good Morning Brinker" broadcast!

TUESDAY TUNES...because every performance counts!

If you have any questions regarding Tuesday Tunes, please contact

Katrina Parker at kparker@brinkerpta.org.

EBluebonnet and 2x2 Reading

Bluebonnet Award

The 2x2 list is for K-2nd grade, and the Texas Bluebonnet reading list is for 3rd-5th grade.  The reading lists can be found online at Texas Library Association Reading Lists. The books are all available both at the Brinker and public libraries.

2x2 Reading As a reward, when your child reads a certain number of books by the specified deadline, they will be invited to attend a pizza/ice cream party after school! (Due to the upcoming school construction, we will not be having two parties for each age range as in years past).
To participate, each child must read at least lucky number 13 books.  Extra reading logs to track progress are available in the  Brinker library. If you need a reading log, just ask the librarian, Kelly Palmer.  They are due back to her by the deadlines below.

K-2nd Grade Party (2x2 Reading List)  -  Tues, Feb 12th
Deadline to turn in reading log - Fri, Feb 1st

3rd-5th Grade Party (Bluebonnet Reading List) - Tues, Feb 19th
Deadline to turn in reading log - Fri, Feb 8th

More details to follow as we get closer to the party dates.  If you have any questions, please  contact Heather Burchett, Literary Enrichment Chair, at hburchett@brinkerpta.org
