Dear St. Joseph's RCS Families,
Last Friday we inducted 7 new members to our National Junior Honors Society. These, along with our existing members, are students who demonstrate excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character and Citizenship. Continue the great work students and parents! Several of our students also celebrated their First Holy Communion this past weekend. It was great to see their excitement and joy. Please help me in congratulating them!
This week is 5k week! Friday will be a Noon dismissal, and we will have our 5k Pasta dinner on Friday night after, and the 5K will begin at 8:00 am Saturday morning. Other events this week include our 7th and 8th grade students taking a field trip to Gettysburg on Tuesday. A final reminder that our end of the year scantron testing has begun and will continue through this week. Please click HERE to view the testing calendar
We hope you got all your training in for our 3rd annual 5k Race and 1 mile Fun Run on May 14th. Follow the link HERE and choose the appropriate link to register as a parent or student. You may also return the paper registration form to the school office.
To try and help support some of our families in need I will be running my first of three triathlons this year on Sunday May 15th, the Columbia Triathlon. It will be a 32 mile triathlon. Later in the year I will run the Diamondman Challenge and Ironman Maryland! The Diamondman Challenge will be a 70.3 mile half-ironman on September 10th, and the final race will be a 140.6 mile Ironman on October 1st. So far this year I have trained over 500 miles. I'm hoping the miles I put into training and running these races result in funds raised towards our Principal's Emergency Tuition Assistance fund. If you would like to donate towards this cause, please visit our school website www.stjosrcs.org and click the DONATE button at the bottom of the page. Under the add instructions link, type RUN. Thank you to all of you have already helped donate to this cause!
St. Joseph's RCS will have our 2nd annual Vacation Bible School this summer July 11th-15th. We had a wonderful time last year sharing a faith filled journey with our camp attendees. We look forward to doing the same this summer!
Are you looking for something exciting to do outside this summer? St. Joseph's RCS has set a date for our 2nd annual Golf Tournament. We will have the tournament on August 19th. Mark your calendars, and get ready to play at Cross Creek this summer! For more information visit the GOLF TOURNAMENT PAGE on our website or REGISTER HERE.

Parents and students, this is the last week to checkout books from the library. Next week, all books are due. The following week, lost book letters will go out for anyone who has not turned in their books. Hopefully we can match last years record of getting all the books back by the end of the year.
I would like to thank the volunteers, especially Mrs. Finke who made the book fair such a success. Another thank you to all the students and parents who bought books last week as well. You make the library computer system possible and I do appreciate it. Finally a huge thanks also to all the parents who contributed books or money for books this fair. We have SEVENTEEN new books for the library as a result of your generosity.
Thanks, Mrs. Nabors
