From the Principal's Office
|
Dear St. Joseph's RCS Families, We had a very successful open house this past Saturday! Fifteen new families came to take a tour of the school and meet our teachers, as well as Fr. Paul, Monsignor Karl, and a few parents. We have already had 3 of those families apply for next year!
If you have not re-enrolled for next year, please do so quickly so that we can ensure your spot is held for next year. Now that open registration has begun some of our classrooms are filling up quick for next year. Please make sure your child's spot is reserved!
For new families entering K-8th, you may enroll online http://stjosrcs.org/registration/ by clicking on the TADS link. To register for our PRE-K program please download the PRE-K registration form from our website and bring or mail to the school office. Please ensure to log back into TADS to complete the enrollment process after we have accepted your application.
Multicultural Night is right around the corner. You should have received a flyer, with all the information you will need, in your child's Monday communication folder. Our students are researching and preparing presentations, dances, and songs to celebrate the 30+ countries and cultures represented throughout our school. We hope to see you there on March 19th to enjoy the amazing night of food, fun, and fancy dress!
You may now register for our 3rd annual 5k Race and 1 mile Fun Run on March 14th. Follow the link HERE and choose the appropriate link to
register as a parent or student. More information came home today in the Monday communication folder, and paper registrations will be coming in a few short weeks.

Note Cards From Your Child (Fundraiser for Art) |
The art room is doing a fundraiser to purchase more exciting supplies! Each child is designing a note card based on the Georgia O'Keefe's flowers. The cards will be about 5 ¼ X 4 and each card will have your child's name, the year, the name of the school and city on the back.
After their design is finished, I will send home the artwork home with an order form for you to see. If you want the cards you will send back with a check. Each box contains 10 cards and are $14.95 a box. If you have any question feel free to contact me. I look forward to seeing all the children's creations in print!

Rice Bowls for Lent
|
This Lent our school will once again participate in CRS Rice Bowl, a faith-in-action program that will help you experience Lenten spirituality by living in solidarity with people in need around the world.
As we, the global Church, continue our prayerful walk through this Holy Year of Mercy, it is especially appropriate to come together in prayer as a family this Lent, reflecting on how we can live this call to mercy more abundantly.
Use your cardboard CRS Rice Bowl and Lenten Calendar to guide your Lenten prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
As a family, read the Stories of Hope and daily reflections to inspire your Lenten journey-and motivate your Lenten giving.
Prepare simple, meatless meals on Fridays throughout Lent to eat in solidarity with our brothers and sisters around the world.
Be sure to visit crsricebowl.org to watch videos of the people and communities whose lives your Lenten gifts are changing through CRS Rice Bowl.
We will be collecting your CRS Rice Bowls at the end of Lent, Friday, April 8.
Thank you for using CRS Rice Bowl with your family this Lent.
Did you know that CRS Rice Bowl has a free Lenten app? Download it for iPhone or Android devices and get daily Lenten reflections right on your phone.

Science Fair Winners!
|
Science and Stem Fair
The St. Joseph Science and Stem Fair was lots of fun with many inventive and unique ideas. Our stem students built roller coasters that rivaled Kings Dominion or Six Flags! These group stem projects were outstanding! All the judges were impress with the engineering complicated designs that went into building each team's roller coaster.
Our individual science fair projects for grades one through five were a wide variety of subjects. We had exhibits on: color blindness, parachutes ,volcanoes, sugar in our drinks, pollution in our rivers, how computers work, lemon battery, coin batteries, and many other fascinating subjects.
Every year the Science Fair judges are surprised by the unique ideas that St. Joseph students come up with. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs. Pappas for all her hard work with the science fair. Also thank you to all the judges and volunteers that make the science fair happen every year.
