From the Principal's Office
Dear St. Joseph's RCS Families,

Thank you to everyone who participated in Catholic Schools Week this year. We had an amazingly exciting and successful week. It was wonderful to see all of our students working together and creating new friendships with friends young and old. It was also wonderful to see the great presentations by our parents on Career Day. We closed the week out with a rigorous Religion Bee, put together by Father Paul. I love being impressed by all members of our school community, you are what makes St. Joseph's RCS such a great place!

Here are a few reminders as we move into Lent. This week we will celebrate all school Mass on Ash Wednesday. All throughout Lent we will participate in Stations of the Cross on Fridays. This Friday will be a Noon dismissal, and Monday school will be Closed.

To continue the joy of last week, we will be inviting parents to participate in a continuation of our Math Olympics we began last Tuesday. We will celebrate this event on February 26th, at 1:00 PM. Parents will have the opportunity to travel with their child from station to station to work on various Math skills, with students from Pre-K up to 8th grade. We are very excited to share some of our math instruction with our parents in a fun filled way. Click HERE to sign up Today! We look forward to sharing one more way we are focusing on improving our math abilities and performance.

Enrollment is open for the 2016-2017 school year. For more information please find the Registration section in the newsletter. This information can also be found by following the link on our twitter page, and the school website. Tuition Rates for the 2016-2017 school year have been set. This information can be found on the registration page of the school's website.

SCANTRON TESTING is almost complete. Due to the snow we will be making a few adjustments to make sure everyone has completed their mid-year test in both reading and math. Thank you for being flexible!

Mr. Hooker's Math and Fitness Challenge: Mr. Hooker ran 10 miles on Saturday. If his pace was 8:07 (8 minutes and 7 seconds) per mile, how long did it take Mr. Hooker to run 10 miles?

Bonus (two prizes): Mr. Hooker biked 18.2 miles on Sunday. His pace was 18.2 miles per hour. Including running and biking, how long did Mr. Hooker work out for this weekend?

Registration
2016-2017 Student Registration

St. Joseph's Regional Catholic School and the Archdiocese of Washington Catholic Schools Office are using TADS, an on-line system, for re-registration and new student enrollment. Current families have received an e-mail from TADS/St. Joseph's Regional Catholic School. Please follow that link in the e-mail to complete the re-registration forms for your family. This link is unique for your family.

The Parish Verification and the Agreement for Parish Service & Support forms are available on the TADS website and need to be completed and returned to the school office as part of the re-registration process. All families must complete the Parish Verification Form. The Agreement for Parish Support & Service must be completed by all practicing Catholic families. Parishioners of St. Hugh of Grenoble, St. Joseph's Beltsville and St. Nicholas may return the forms without the pastor's signature; the school office will forward them as a group to the appropriate rectories.

For all new siblings (including students entering Kindergarten from our Pre-K program) parents must complete a new admission application, which can be accessed in TADS via a link on the school website. The $100.00 re-registration fee will cover the new siblings; you will not need to pay the $150.00 application fee.

New Student Application Kindergarten - 8th grade ONLY - TADS Website

Pre-K applications must be completed and submitted through the school office.

Failure to re-register by February 2, 2016, may result in your child/children being removed from the school roster, requiring you to re-apply for admission, pay the $150.00 application fee, and risk the vacancy being filled. All tuition and fees for the 2015-2016 school year must be paid in full by April 30, 2016 in order to be accepted for the following school year.

Weekly Family Math Night Activity

Note Cards From Your Child (Fundraiser for Art)
The art room is doing a fundraiser to purchase more exciting supplies!  Each child is designing a note card based on the Georgia O'Keefe's flowers. The cards will be about 5 ¼ X 4 and each card will have your child's name, the year, the name of the school and city on the back.

After their design is finished, I will send home the artwork home with an order form for you to see. If you want the cards you will send back with a check. Each box contains 10 cards and are $14.95 a box. If you have any question feel free to contact me. I look forward to seeing all the children's creations in print!
