Dear St. Joseph's RCS Families,
It is so great to be back at school! The first two weeks have gone smoothly, and I can see that all of St. Joseph's RCS students are excited to be back. I would like to thank everyone for all they have done to help make sure these first two weeks have gone well.
Please be aware that we will begin taking our baseline Scantron tests this week, for grades 1-8. Throughout the year students in 1st-8th Grade will take a fall (baseline), winter (mid-year), and spring (end-of-year). These tests are an excellent tool for our teachers in determining what areas are strengths and what areas need improvement, in addition to their regular observations in class. Our teachers can then differentiate instruction to make sure our instruction is truly student centered. Please help us in expressing the importance of this test to your child, and make sure they get a good night's sleep and healthy breakfast before school.
St. Joseph's RCS is starting to get noticed around town, we set up a booth at this year's Greenbelt Labor Day Festival, and we won 2nd place out of all the information booths there! You can check out our pictures on facebook and twitter.
We love to have our parents and family members visit and help out around the school. Have you done taken the Child Protection class yet (Virtus)? If not please go to www.virtus.org and sign up for the class here at St. Joseph's RCS on September 28th, 7:00PM.
This summer St. Joseph's RCS also launched our new website www.stjosrcs.org You can still access this the same way through the churches website, or you can type in the website address to your web browser. The 2015-16 School Calendar and School Handbook is posted here. If you're looking for us on social media you can access our Facebook page and twitter handle, @StJosephsRCS on the new school website. If you haven't done so yet, please like us on Facebook and follow us on twitter!
On a final note, St. Joseph's RCS is GROWING! We have 190 students enrolled for this year, that is over 10% growth from the start of last year! Way to go St. Joseph! Way to go Teachers! Way to go families!
"Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. And let perseverance be perfect, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." James 1:2-4

St. Joseph's RCS Walk With Francis |
St. Joseph's Regional Catholic School has pledged to pray, serve, and act in preparation for Pope Francis's visit. Yesterday's second reading, James 2:14-18, states, "What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, 'Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,' but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead. Indeed someone might say, 'You have faith and I have works.' Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works."
In this spirit, we are launching a
