One of our recent passengers had a misadventure during their last visit to Indonesia. A misadventure that finished well thanks to the help of our staff. Here is an extract of an email sent to us.
"Could you please pass this message onto the owners of the company in recognition for the work done by Andrew, Reto and your staff in the Bali office?
In the excitement arriving in Maumere I unfortunately lost my document bag with my wallet and all my travel documents (drivers' license, American green card, passport, etc.).
Unfortunately again, I had no need for these documents while onboard Waow, and it was only a few days before arriving in Bali (Tuesday before arrival Friday) that I actually realized.
From Tuesday, with the help of Andrew and your team, we contacted the embassy in Jakarta to establish a new passport, seemingly impossible to get while still at sea.
The bad news didn't come only once, and we learnt that the embassy was closing for 4 days (Thursday, Friday public holidays plus weekend). Our flight for Korea was scheduled for Sunday with a prepaid itinerary.
Wednesday, Andrew and I spent the day procuring the documents requested by the embassy (western union, passport photos, etc.). It is here that your team were exceptional. They managed to submit all the documents one hour before the embassy closed. The embassy was then able to send by Tiki courier Wednesday night, and it arrived Friday despite the public holidays. Once disembarked in Bali I went to the embassy (which opened specially for me) and I was able to obtain the passport and then contact immigration, even though they also were closed for 4 days. Oouf, mission accomplished.
