Welcome to our June 2015 Newsletter

All fresh after coming out of dry dock, which lasted a little more than one month, WAOW set sail for the 2015-2016 season on June 22, starting with a cruise in the Komodo National Park, where we will stay until mid-September. Following the Komodo season WAOW will head for Alor, the Banda Sea, Raja Ampat and Cenderawasih Bay. As with each year, whenever your voyage is planned, WAOW will ensure that you dive on the best sites, at the best time of the year, and in the best regions of Indonesia.

WAOW like new again

As with every year WAOW needs her health check. This is an enormous job that can sometimes be pretty difficult due to the working conditions. We are very pleased that the team has again finalised all the work.

Sanding, anti-fouling, engine overhauls, painting, oiling, electrics and equipment servicing, all to assure your comfort and security. Here are just a few photos to share with you and also to congratulate and thank our crew, led by our cruise directors Andrew and Reto.

The deck is just waiting for you to be standing on it.

Scuba Show Long Beach

Recently, on June 6th and 7th, there were many of you that dropped by the stand at the Long Beach Scuba Show in California. We would like to thank you for your interest and hope to see you (or re-see you) very soon on the foredeck of WAOW.

Free Visa for Indonesia

Good news! Since June 9, the Indonesian government now grants free visas for citizens of 45 countries, including USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan, China ands many European countries.

This visa, which can be obtained directly upon arrival to Bali and Jakarta airports only (there is still a fee in Manado), is valid for 30 days and cannot be extended on site. For a stay over 30 days, you'll need to contact the closest onsulate of Indonesia, about 45 days before your departure, to obtain a visa.

Jean Francois Barthod
is joining us on WAOW

We are honoured to welcome documentary and photographic director, Jean Francois Barthod, aboard WAOW this coming August.

As a passionate cinematographer, Jean Francois is able to mix his passion for both diving and photography. Whether in polar or tropical waters he has been involved in some fantastic projects such as the film "Oceans", episodes of "Ushuaia", the documentaries "David and the Goliaths - The Orcas of Crozet", to name just a few.

It is in Komodo that "Jeff" (as his friends call him) will pull on his fins and roll the camera. He is looking forward to it, and so are we.
