September 2014

Canadian Electronic Library has been serving libraries and publishers since 2005. Specializing in Canadian content, we license titles from over 70 Canadian publishers to libraries worldwide through our partnership with ebrary and now through our desLibris discovery platform.

This is a short update on our services for Canadian publishers.

Our new platform offers both a public discovery site for Canadian books and a new distribution channel to libraries. With a desLibris account, publishers may order ebook conversions at low prices, generate ONIX and maintain digital archives. If you're a book publisher in Canada with more than 10 titles in your catalogue, we invite you to join our community. Review the details here and then go to desLibris Registration and enter your contact information.
New Partnership with eBOUND

Canadian Electronic Library has just been appointed a partner vendor by eBOUND, the digital services provider for independent Canadian publishers. Clients of eBOUND who are already distributing to CEL independently may switch over to the eBOUND account if they choose. More information
Onix support from Canada's leading Onix software provider is integrated with desLibris. Through their publisher dashboards, publishers with titles on desLibris have access to several Onix utilities, including generation of Onix 3 files for their active titles, which will soon include free addition of THEMA subject headings.  More on OnixEdit
Digital Conversion Services

Through our longstanding partnership with codeMantra,
we offer a menu of publisher services ranging from composition to distribution. codeMantra's technology-enabled solutions and XML-Anytime workflow provide publishers of all sizes with fast turnaround and uncompromising quality.
Projects we have recently carried out for Canadian publishers:

The Canadian Museum of History has completed the first phase of its Mercury Series digitization program, with the production of 273 titles (from hardcopy) in PDF-A and XML formats.

Lexis-Nexis Canada uses our services for regular production of ePUB3 versions of its annual publications for legal practitioners.

University of Toronto Press is midway through its Heritage Project, under which over 500 backlist titles will be converted from both hardcopy and digital sources to XML, ePUB, uPDF and POD formats.

For UTP, we have also just completed conversion of The Natural History of Canadian Mammals, their co-publication with Canadian Museum of Nature, to ePUB3 for release by the Museum.

University of Ottawa Press, working under our Digital Conversion Subsidy program, has just converted 70+ backlist titles for distribution to its clients.

Pembroke Publishers operates a ongoing conversion program to make sure its entire list of monographs in education is distributed with the highest quality standards.

For Health Quality Ontario, we carry out production of monographs in NLM XML for submission to the National Library of Medicine.

Every codeMantra conversion customer has its own site on the CollectionPoint Digital Asset Management system, which provides an archive of all work done, and a means through which files and metadata may be sent to distribution partners.
