Hello Dear Readers!
As Mother's Day approaches, I want to take a moment to salute my family, friends, colleagues and readers who are mothers. I believe that you have THE most important job on the planet.
I also believe that what our mothers told us so many years ago is still worth remembering and passing on to future generations.

But first, this heartfelt message:

Please allow me to recall and share some of my Mother's classic quotes and best advice:

"So what if you are not a good tennis player? Just wear a cute outfit and no one will notice."

"Those shoes are killing your outfit, Honey. Let's go shopping and find some shoes that are both pretty and comfortable."

"Redheaded models wear red dresses in fashion magazines all the time, so don't think you can't wear red.
Not only can you wear it, you should wear it."

"I sew and create and do my best work when the spirit moves me."
(Spoken as I was walking out the front door in a dress she created for my high school winter dance. She was still sewing the hem.)

I was hoping for a second date with a cute Italian guy and she remarked . . .
"Did you know that the best combination for beautiful children is Irish and Italian? You may be only half Irish, but Irish is your better half."

And after lamenting the unexciting first date I had one evening, Mom said :
"You should go out with him again, Nancy. He might have some cute friends. You never know."

My mother Donna and I circa 1946:

Here's to you, Mom. I think you know how much I miss you.

So glad I have your eyes.
