I recognized the first symptom just this morning as I longingly gazed at a photo of one of my all time favorite film stars, Susan Sarandon. Her auburn hair was so pretty and soft-looking with just enough length to be considered long and just enough curl to look natural. Maybe I should let my hair grow long again and even add a few highlights . . . I think we both have very fine hair, but hers is naturally wavy and mine is straight, but I could get a body wave . . .
Uh oh. It's spring fever alright.
So . . . I did some digging to see what's happening in the fashion world when it comes to hair lengths and styles. The results are in and I think many of you will be pleased.
Long (past the shoulders) is out.
(Btw, bobs and pixies are always in style. Just sayin'.)
Before we talk about the do's, let's take a good look at a few don'ts.
Sally Field's hair is pretty but not really modern and a little too long to be youthful. But I like her. I really like her.
Jaclyn Smith, truly a beautiful woman, has this Charlie's Angels' thing going on that looks dated and droopy especially around the eyes.
I rather enjoy Kathy Lee and Hoda on the Today Show, but when I tell Kathy Lee to please cut her hair and lose the center part, she never listens.
Now for the Do Do's . . .
Individually, they need no explanation. Each style and each length is great looking, age appropriate and most definitely contemporary. As in clothing, the right shape makes all the difference.
Please note: all hair textures are duly represented; curly,
straight, thick and thin.

Before you start any new hair program, you should consult with a trusted hair professional.
My stylist said "keep it short".
Of course she did. I know I should.
But I still want Susan's hair.
It's a sickness.
