Dear Readers,

Some people think Valentine's  Day is nothing but a giant retail (Hallmark/ Godiva/Teleflora) conspiracy. And some individuals also believe that buying a Valentine's card or a box of Fannie May dark chocolate vanilla cremes or roses are all merely exploitation of the highest order and a complete waste of money.
I am definitely NOT one of those people.

From Teleflora.com, tell me someone who wouldn't be delighted to see this at the breakfast table.

One of my all time best Valentine's started off with a cute card, a simple breakfast served on an elegant tray and because he had yet to learn that Fannie Mays are my fave, everything was sprinkled with Hershey's kisses.

How adorable was that?
Made my day, don't you know.

But here's the thing. If you are currently without a partner or if your significant other is one of those cynics heretofore mentioned, go ahead and do something (or buy something) for yourself.
Actually, you should do something special for yourself. We romantics must stick together and try to celebrate the sentiments we saw represented in the movies An Affair to Remember and Sleepless in Seattle.

Bye bye, winter doldrums . . . hello happy!

Some suggestions:

1. Make an appointment for the works at a nearby well-reputed nail salon. Make sure that you ask for a full manicure and pedicure that include a luxurious hand, leg and foot massage. Nothing less. Nothing better.
Oh, and the color? Red, of course.

2. Buy a new king size bath sheet towel that you publicly declare as solely yours. Make sure it's big enough to wrap yourself completely head to toe, and soft enough to make you feel not only dry, but also feminine and sexy (we're entitled). Place a label on it with your full name, especially if there are rude persons in your household, male or female, who tend to grab and use other people's stuff without permission.
Love these towels by Matouk.

3. Purchase a 100% silk blouse that is flowy when worn untucked and long enough when tucked in, such that you can raise your arms, and it drapes at the waist in a perfectly effortless way. Wear it with black well-tailored trousers or a skirt for evening and with jeans simply whenever you feel like it.
Why? Because you can.
Definitely wear it on Valentine's Day.

This is the one I bought for myself this year.
I got it at BananaRepublic.com Unfortunately, Mr. Hershey's Kisses has left the building.

Please don't forget to say Happy Valentine's Day to someone you love!
Happy Valentine's Day to you, dear hearts . . .

Nancy
