Never mind. I don't have a grill.
But make no mistake.
It's summertime, summertime, sum sum summertime.
Summertime.

And white appears to be the it color this summer. Duh.
White was, is, and always will be the color of summer. I remember wearing lots of white clothing in my youth, like white T-shirts over my bathing suit while swimming. We mistakenly thought it might help reduce the risk of sunburn. No sun screens were available other than that icky gooey white zinc oxide. But the distinctive white-nose look was sole property of the elite squad of brave and beautiful kids called Life Guards. Nobody else would dare to wear "the zinc" in my neighborhood. So, I wore tons of white Noxzema cream on my face and body trying to ease the pain of blister-bad sunburns. I may have looked very un-cool, but that wonderful white cream helped me feel cool. Literally.
Long white pants, numerous white tops, some white Bermuda shorts (some things never change) and a
treasured white terrycloth swimsuit cover-up were my staples. I say treasured because I was always freezing cold after getting out of the water (still true) and I loved the way that soft absorbent material hugged and soothed me. Big beach towels were great, but one could actually wear this towel in public.
I need to shop around and find one of those again. With the long maxi dresses back on trend, maybe they are out there! But I want WHITE!
Meanwhile, you may enjoy seeing a couple of classy white
"A wedding guest should never wear white."
I say break it.
Here is the beautiful 27 year old Camilla Belle for Harpers Bazaar looking perfectly lovely in a white dress that she could easily wear as a wedding guest . . .
And the remarkable Angelina Jolie for Harper's Bazaar who would be gorgeous as a guest, but in addition, I would not hesitate to recommend this ensemble for any bride planning a "second" marriage wedding . . .
A girl can dream, can't she?
Nostalgic to a fault, crazy about summer, and still hopeful,
Nancy
