What to wear when it's hot outside and cold inside.
In other words, it's the war of the wardrobes, and we mustn't allow wilted to win.
A simple dress in a summer neutral is the best option in my book. One-piece dressing is a no-brainer in the morning when we have zero time to waste. I suggest you consider a dress similar to the one Angelina Jolie is wearing in this photo. On your way to work, you can bare your legs, wear some cute comfy sandals and a great pair of earrings. But before you leave, pop a pretty scarf, a chunky summery necklace and a cardigan sweater into your tote bag and bring it!
My summer basics: tan dress, scarves, black sweater, black blazer, necklace, belt.
At the office, stash a pair of neutral colored pumps, a fresh pair of sheer nude hose, and a blazer/jacket. Oh, and give yourself enough time to do your quick change magic before you actually land at your desk. You never know who might be there to greet you (boss?) or what early bird employee will be hovering, eager to see any and all signs of hot weather mayhem (there's one in every office).
And here's the best part. That lovely billowy scarf you tossed in your tote? If you wrap it fashionably around your neck, it will do a mighty fine job of keeping you warm when the AC is blasting. Pantyhose will serve as leg warmers too. And all the while you are looking ever so crisp, polished and professional. How does she do it?
Voila! You are now ready for any and all possible events that may come up at work . . . a surprise visit from a client, a last minute meeting in the board room or even a court appearance! All your bases are beautifully covered. You win.
