Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for your help in making the 1st Annual San Jose Mini Maker Faire a smashing success! We were thrilled to host 102 Makers, who brought with them an additional 200+ Maker Helpers.

Our nonprofit partners came out in force, including: 4-H, Girl Scouts of Northern California, C.A.D.R.E. from SJSU, the San Jose Public Library, the Tech Museum of Innovation, San Jose Jazz, San Jose Museum of Art, The Guadalupe River Conservancy, and Tabard Theatre to name just a few!

More than 3,000 guests, of which 1,087 were children, explored History Park, which was jumping with Steampunk jewelers, paper marbling, leather workers, tintype photographers, gemstone carvers, yarn taggers, bamboo bikes, blacksmiths, belly dancers, student engineering and robotics groups; rocket launchers and much more!

We owe a debt of gratitude to our generous sponsors for their support, as well as 44 new volunteers who spent their Labor Day Weekend working with us.

Thank you for your support of History San José and for helping make this dream come true.We hope we can count on you to become a part of the 2nd Annual San Jose Mini Maker Faire!

Until next time,

Orchard Supply Hardware Box Car Restoration

With cooler weather (hopefully) on the way, restoration work on History Park's OSH Box Car is set to get underway. Over the next several weeks the California Trolley and Rail Road Corporation (CTRC) will be working to getthe 40-foot box car back in shape. Time and the elements have not been kind.

Look for updates on repairs, and in the mean time check out this great video from the California Pioneers of Santa Clara County to see how the OSH box car made its way to History Park!
