Bear in Mind: The Story of the California Grizzly  closes on Sunday, December 15. Come see this fascinating exhibit before it closes at the Leonard & David McKay Gallery in History Park!

From the Collection

During the depression, it was common for families on a tight budget to make their own Christmas ornaments.

These ornaments were made from apricot pits and came with a rich archival collection documenting the life of Ella Marie Dettenhamer.  She spent most of her life at her family home and orchard located at 105 Bascom Avenue--now office buildings.
