SURRENDER THE PIECES

Just like a classic car, authentic restoration occurs in three steps. We surrender the old, surrender the pieces, and surrender the new. Let's explore surrendering the pieces.

When he receives a rust bucket, a car restorer's first action is to take it apart, piece-by-piece. Next, the smallest components of the automobile are individually and meticulously restored. The same is true for our personal restoration process. When we surrender our lives to Christ, our Restorer disassembles us, piece-by-piece. Our sins are revealed, followed by our uttering many little, "I can't. You cans." This is confession.

The word "confession" means "to agree with God," from His perspective, that our sins are real. When we confess our sins to God, He forgives us and restores us. The apostle John taught: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). This is why we must confess all of our sins to him.

Surrender your sins, piece-by-piece. As Christ disassembles your life and reveals your wrongdoings, hand each one over to the Restorer, repeatedly saying, "I can't. You can." He will restore you a piece at a time.

Blessings!
