THE 'NEED' FOR GREED

Do you respond to God's generosity and the needs of others with greed? Has your attempt at self-restoration been about what you can gain, or has it been about protecting what you are afraid to lose? Have you tried to be restored, but your self-ambition has pulled you away from living generously?

If you answer any of these questions, "Yes," then consider whether your heart has been hardened toward becoming the kind of generous person that God desires you to be.

Think about this -- is your generosity reserved only for giving to those who will offer something in return? A nonprofit that will score you points for your business? A hurting relative of a good customer? A church that will put you in leadership? If so, then you give the gift to yourself. Perhaps you think, "Why not? I earned it."

Through Moses, God said: "You may say to yourself, 'My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.' But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today" (Deuteronomy 8:17-18).

Surrender any thought outside God's design for your life to the Restorer. He will make you new.

Merry Christmas!
