Help Support the Faculty Appreciation Breakfast
The Faculty Appreciation Breakfast is Thursday, May 18 in the Twichell Room. This is a wonderful opportunity to express our appreciation to the Foote faculty and staff for supporting our children's education and well-being throughout the year.
This event is sponsored by the PTC and supported entirely by Foote parents who provide breakfast items and flowers and plants for our annual flower raffle. Please consider donating to this enjoyable event. Click here to sign up to bring food, flowers or both. Your help is greatly appreciated. Non-perishable items can be dropped off in the Twichell Room on Monday, May 15 or Tuesday, May 16, clearly labeled "Faculty Breakfast." Perishable items should be labeled and put in the refrigerator, and hot items should be brought in between 6:30 a.m. and and 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. We have a microwave, an oven and warming dishes, if needed.
Please remember to label your bowls and/or serving utensils and please pick up any time after 10:30 a.m.

Close-Up: Who Knows to Whom Will Go the Latin Award?
Back in February, all of our Latin students participated in the National Latin Exam, along with more than 150,000 students across the United States and around the world. The results were released last week. During our Middle School morning meeting on Wednesday, Latin teacher Tina Hansen announced that 53 of our students had scored well enough to earn honors certificates or medals. This is a notable accomplishment, especially at a time when the study of Latin has become an exception rather than a common course in middle schools.
Why do we teach Latin, and why does this ancient language matter in a progressive school like Foote? Our students, and our faculty, can provide many answers to these questions. At the top of the list: It's fun, especially the way Tina Hansen and Drew Sweet teach. It's also empowering to be able to interpret complicated words in English and other languages.
