Important Information About EpiPen Recall

On March 31, the FDA announced a voluntary recall of 13 lots of EpiPen and EpiPen Jr. auto-injector products due to the potential for a defective part that may cause failure of the device to activate.

We have checked the lot numbers on all student-provided and school EpiPens in our office and have contacted affected parents accordingly.

You can find more information on the FDA website.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us (jhodge@footeschool.org or hrusso@footeschool.org).

Service Learning Day and
Red Cross Blood Drive - April 27

On April 27, the entire school community (students, faculty and staff) will join together to engage in a day of service learning. Many of us will stay on campus; others will travel to sites around greater New Haven. Students and faculty chaperones will participate in activities ranging from environmental cleanup and food pantry deliveries, to visiting animal shelters and knitting hats for cancer patients. As part of the day, we will be hosting a Red Cross blood drive for adults 17 and older, from 12:15 to 5:15 p.m. in the gym. More information on the flyer below.

Sign Up for After School Minicourses

It's time to sign up for After School minicourses for the spring term. Minicourses give children a chance to learn something new and have fun in a relaxed setting. Children who are not enrolled in the After School Program can still participate in a minicourse.

Most minicourses begin the week of April 10.

Please note: The Basketry minicourse has new dates (May 5, 12 & 19).

DayInLifeA DAY IN THE LIFE OF FOOTE

Close-Up:
Fitness (and Silliness) in Physical Education

For first graders in PE class this week, the name of the game was fitness and silliness. Athletics Director Brad McGuire explained the rules while PE teacher Eric Einbinder rolled out a ridiculously huge soccer ball. After a warm-up game modeled after the Indiana Jones boulder-chase scene, the children participated in a high-energy game of crab soccer.

After several rounds, the speed of the game slowed noticeably, although spirits remained high. Arm and leg muscles were pushed, core strength was enhanced, and children successfully followed complex rules while practicing cooperation and building resilience.

Spring Assembly Videos

Last week's Spring Assembly highlighted the breadth and depth of Foote's music program, with memorable performances by a number of grades. Here are video highlights:

Orchestra - "In the Hall of the Mountain King"

Kindergarten - "There's Someone Living on a Big High Hill"

Grade 2 - "Are You Sleeping?" (in five languages)

Grade 7 - Habanera from "Carmen"

Grades 4 & 5 - "Rigadoon"

Grade 5 - "Ronde/The Horse's Brandle"

All School Round - "Scotland's Burning"
