Dear Parents,
You may have seen the bright pink signs decorating our campus. To mark the 100th day of school this week, the students of 1X and 2X decided to create 100 handwritten signs with affirmations and ways that we can spread kindness to one another. When I saw the children hanging them, I was so moved that I gathered them to express how happy their surprise had made me and so many others in our community. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference in other people's lives, and we're grateful and proud of the children for brightening our campus with their heartfelt and thoughtful messages. I hope you will take some time in the coming days to read and enjoy them. And remember to look on Facebook and Instagram for more photos of our amazing students and their work.
Warmly, Carol Maoz Head of School

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF FOOTE
Close-Up: The Power of Libraries, from Alexander to Perrine
Along with our teachers, Foote Librarians Lynda Johnson and Jennifer Friedman have worked intently to review, subscribe to, and build curated databases to guide student research. This week, sixth graders embarked on the first in a series of research projects related to their year-long country studies. Lynda carefully led a group of students through the Foote School's impressive online resources, demonstrating and explaining how keywords can help them sort through the collections. "You're going to be doing research like this for the rest of your lives," she noted. "This is a chance to put your toe in the water and get started."
