Please Wear Special Colors for Next Week's MLK Assembly

An all-school assembly will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, January 27 in the Hosley Gym.

To tie into the themes of inclusiveness and community, we are asking each grade to come dressed in a specific color so that together we make a giant rainbow on the gym floor. This is not assembly dress.

Students have been assigned the following colors:
  • Kindergarten & Grade 9 - Red
  • Grades 1 & 7 - Orange
  • Grade 2 - Yellow
  • Grades 3 & 5 - Green
  • Grades 4 & 6 - Blue
  • Grade 8 - White, as directed by their teachers
  • Faculty & Staff - Purple, Maroon or Pink
Please note: This is an assembly for students and faculty.

Reaching Her Goal: Inspiration From a Foote Alum Athlete

Athletics Director Brad McGuire presents Caitlin Farrell with a #18  soccer jersey, her number at Foote, Choate and Georgetown

Foote alumna Caitlin Farrell '12 returned to campus recently to speak with Middle School students about her experience playing Division 1 soccer for Georgetown University and the journey that got her there. The lunchtime visit will be the first of many by Foote alumni athletes, says Athletics Director Brad McGuire. Caitlin is a sophomore at Georgetown and helped the team achieve its most successful season ever; the Hoyas reached the final four in the College Cup last fall. In 2015, Caitlin received All-Freshman Team Big East honors and All-Academic Big East honors while starting all 26 games.

Her deep passion for soccer took root in third grade at Foote. She recalled skipping sleepover parties and joining club soccer teams to pursue her dream of "becoming the best soccer player I could be." Through hard work and sacrifice, Caitlin was able to reach her goal of playing competitive college soccer. "If you want something, whatever it may be, don't be afraid to go get it," Caitlin told students. "Don't be afraid to put your hard work into it and go for a dream, because you'll be amazed where it can take you."
