A Reminder About Parking

As the school year gets underway, parents are reminded to observe traffic and parking guidelines for drop-off and pick-up:
  • Enter Loomis Place from Highland Street at all times, but remember that Loomis Place is legally a two-way street.
  • Use the school side of Loomis Place only. Parking on the residential side may subject you to ticketing or towing.
  • Do not double park or make U-turns on Loomis Place
  • The Canner Street circle is available for drop-off and pick-up only. Cars must immediately clear the circle when buses are arriving and departing.
  • Children should exit vehicles on the curb side only.
Thank you for helping us to be a good neighbor and to ensure the safety of all.

Family Fun Day - Sept. 18

DayInLifeA DAY IN THE LIFE OF FOOTE
A Fabulous First Week

Students returned to campus this week ready to dive into a new school year. As grades K-5 settled into their new classrooms and specials classes, students in grades 6-9 engaged in exciting Project Week activities off-campus. And everywhere there were signs of joyful learning...

Kindergartners enjoyed getting to know each other and their newly renovated classrooms, which now feature, among other upgrades, cozy reading lofts.

Margy Lamere introduced her new first graders to one another with a "medal ceremony."

Second graders in Hilary Pearson's class wrote about how they were feeling on the first day of school, and interviewed classroom buddies to get to know them better.

Third graders received welcome bags with items symbolizing important traits for young learners: a spring (stretch yourself and be flexible), an eraser (it's okay to make mistakes), a kaleidoscope (there are many ways to look at a problem) and other items.

Toby Welch's fourth grade class learned how to properly raise, lower and fold the American flag, a daily duty entrusted to fourth graders.

Fifth graders in Jim Adams' class worked in groups to design and build the tallest tower they could using 10 index cards and 12 inches of tape.

As part of Project Week, sixth graders traveled to Groton where they participated in a lab program called Project Oceanology.

Seventh graders went to Camp Hazen in Chester for a ropes course and team-building activities.

Eighth graders kicked off their year-long study of 3-D art with a visit by Foote alumnus Eamon Roche '80, who designed and built the Lincoln Chair in the school's main courtyard.

As part of their three-day retreat on Cape Cod, ninth graders enjoyed a private tour of the Whydah Pirate Museum by treasure hunter Barry Clifford. Barry is godfather to ninth grader Tommy Styron and helped to discover the Whydah off the coast of Provincetown.
