Help Needed for Faculty Appreciation Breakfast

The Faculty Appreciation Breakfast is Wednesday, May 18 in the Twichell Room. This is a wonderful opportunity to express our appreciation to the Foote faculty and staff for supporting our children's education and well-being throughout the year.

This event is sponsored by the PTC and supported entirely by Foote parents who provide breakfast items and flowers and plants for our annual flower raffle. Please consider donating to this enjoyable event. Click here to sign up to bring food, flowers or both. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Non-perishable items can be dropped off in the Twichell Room on Monday, May 16 or Tuesday, May 17, clearly labeled "Faculty Breakfast." Perishable items should be labeled and put in the refrigerator, and hot items should be brought in between 6:30 a.m. and and 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday. We have a microwave, an oven and warming dishes, if needed.

DayInLifeA DAY IN THE LIFE OF FOOTE
A Feast of World Cultures

Sixth graders held their Festival of the World this week to showcase all they have learned about countries and world cultures. The annual event caps off a year-long project that begins on the first day of school when students choose a country to study by spinning a globe and stopping it with a finger; wherever that finger lands is their country of study.

The interdisciplinary project combines a research fair with music, dance, art and an international feast. Hand-drawn maps of the world, computer-designed travel posters and Oaxacan-inspired paintings all decorated the Hosley Gym as sixth graders welcomed parents and Lower School students as their guests. The performance featured songs and dances from Greece, Japan, Iran, Afghanistan, Ghana, Brazil, Kenya, New Zealand and the Philippines.

Click above to watch a highlight reel from the performance.

Looking Back: The Foote Archives Blog

Students eating lunch in the 1960s. For years, Foote had a dining room (where the music classrooms are today) where students ate hot, cooked meals every day.

We're celebrating Foote's 100th year by looking back in our archives to remember the people and events that have made Foote a special learning community. Check out the Foote Archives Blog to learn more about our school's past.

From the Faculty Blogs
Alexandra Wittner's Kindergartners learned about Foote School history through a special timeline activity (pictured).

Second graders are turning the block area in Margy Lamere's classroom into an African rain forest.

Kim Yap's first graders had a buddy lunch with seventh graders to enjoy the blooming daffodils they planted as bulbs last fall.

Thirty-three Foote students received awards in the annual National Latin Exam, Tina Hansen reports.
