PTC Fundraiser with Stephanie Anestis Photography

Only three spots remain for the 'photo duet' mini-sessions with photographer Stephanie Anestis. Stephanie, a Foote mom and family photographer, is offering the sessions as a fundraiser for the PTC on April 24 at two locations: Edgerton Park in New Haven (morning) and Stony Creek in Branford (afternoon).

These 10-minute sessions are to highlight a special relationship: mother and child, father and child, grandparent and child, aunt or uncle with niece or nephew, etc., and would make a perfect gift for grandparents or a spouse.

Your $150 donation to the Foote School PTC includes the session, five low-resolution, watermarked digital images for online posting, and two archival 8x10 prints of the image of your choice, handmade by Stephanie.

To sign up, click here to select a time slot and bring a check for $150 made out to the Foote School PTC to the main office.

Protecting Shoreline Habitat at Long Wharf

The student-led Environmental Action Group traveled to Long Wharf Nature Preserve this week for a beach cleanup. Armed with black trash bags, the students fanned out across the beach and marshland to pick up discarded plastic and Styrofoam garbage. The area is a habitat for several bird species, including the sharp-tailed sparrow, piping plovers and least terns (which are threatened). EAG advisor Kim Birge-Liberman notes that the cleanup was the students' idea. "They really wanted to do an action item this year," she says, "and we collected about eight bags of trash!"

Chester Sharp's second graders built a "triple loop" for their rolling spheres, and he's got video.

First and second graders got a close-up look at African animals they have been studying on a trip to the Bronx Zoo. Margy Lamere and Hilary Pearson have photos.

Jake Burt's fifth graders began their study of the ancient Greeks (and their feats of athleticism) with a good-natured competition of their own (pictured).
