Dear Parents,

I am excited to share the news that we recently hired Kossouth Bradford as our new school counselor.

Show Your Appreciation for Foote Faculty

Dear Parents,

We would like to extend an invitation to parents interested in showing their appreciation of the faculty over the course of the school year. We are looking for help with bringing breakfast refreshments for the faculty during their Thursday morning faculty meetings. About once a month, we present refreshments to liven their early morning meeting and to say thank you for the amazing work they do with our children. The food can be dropped off the afternoon before or by 7:30 in the morning. If you are interested, please contact us and we will send you the link for sign up. Our first breakfast is Thursday, Oct. 1.

Thank you,

Camille Koff and Preethi Joseph

Building Foote's Campus ... in Legos

Students in the Vacation Program got creative with some donated Legos during the Yom Kippur holiday. They built a model of Foote's campus out of Lego bricks. Vacation Program teacher Cjet Raymond sent along these photos.

NAIS President Visits Foote

L-R: Head of Middle School John Turner, NAIS President John Chubb, Head of School Carol Maoz
Foote welcomed a special visitor to campus this week: John Chubb, president of the National Association of Independent Schools (of which Foote is a member), stopped by on a swing through Connecticut to tour the school and meet with Head of School Carol Maoz, Head of Middle School John Turner and Head of Lower School Beth Mello.

John observed Kindergarten classrooms, third grade math, Lower School Spanish, seventh grade Environmental Science, as well as the art studios and Community Service Club. It was the first time anyone could remember that an NAIS president has visited Foote.

"I was very impressed with the creativity and engagement of kids and the sheer fact that the kids were having so much fun while they were learning," John said after the tour. "This is a school that knows what it's about, and it tries to stay true to that in ways that are obvious and impressive."

Fall Family Fun Day

This year's Fall Family Fun Day was amazing - beautiful weather, delicious food, fun and games, and a fantastic sense of community. Thanks to all the families who volunteered and participated, and to the PTC for throwing a terrific kick-off event for the school year.

Find more photos on the school website.

Looking Back: Art at Foote

This week's look back into the Anna Huntington Deming '35 Archives focuses on the role the arts have played at Foote.

From the Faculty Blogs
Third graders delved into New Haven history with a field trip to the Green. Amanda Diffley, Melissa McCormack and Ashley Schnabel have photos.

Students aren't invited to Parents Night (which took place Sept. 17), so Margy Lamere's second graders made avatars to greet their visiting parents (pictured).

Lely Evans' sixth graders worked on pictograph puzzles to learn how Chinese characters derived from pictures.
