Welcoming Newcomers at the Opening Assembly

This week's opening assembly in the Hosley Gymnasium introduced the Foote community to our new Chinese guest teacher, Luo Jingbo (pictured at right) from Yali school in Changsha, as well as our newest students, the Kindergartners (Foote class of 2025).

Ninth graders hosted the assembly and presented humorous, centennial-themed skits about the values of Falco's PRIDE (Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Dependability and Excellence.)

As is customary, the assembly ended with ninth graders presenting stuffed Falcos to the Kindergartners.

Looking Back: From the Foote Archives
In celebration of Foote's Centennial this year, Foote alums Kate Reilly Yurkovsky '09 and Caroline Monahan '08 created a Foote history blog during a summer internship in the Alumni and Development Office. The blog features weekly posts with photos and stories drawn from the school archives, named for alumna Anna Huntington Deming '35.

This week's posts look back on two different eras at Foote: the 1940s, when Foote was housed in a converted carriage house on Saint Ronan Street, and the turn of the new century, when students learned African drumming from a popular instructor.
From the Faculty Blogs
To get to know their new school, Alexandra Wittner's Kindergartners took a campus tour.

Third graders in Amanda Diffley's and Melissa McCormack's classes painted life-size portraits to visually express themselves (pictured).

Head of Lower School Beth Mello reflects on achieving happiness, and links to some helpful resources on the subject.
