Fundraising Auction: Thank You!

Thanks to everyone who made the Foote-Stompin' Barn Dance, our annual fundraising auction, a huge success! It was a wonderful evening of community building and raised crucial funds to support our children's education. Special thanks to the auction committee, PTC co-presidents Christina Herrick and Rosa Holler, and the countless volunteers who helped make it happen. Find more photos on the school website.

Building 'Lungs' to Learn About Air Pressure
Fourth graders are learning about air pressure in John Cunningham's science class and got a hands-on demonstration of how it works Thursday by building 'lungs.' Using recycled Gatorade bottles as the chest cavity and balloons for the lung and diaphragm, the students worked in pairs to build models. Many were surprised to find that both the lungs and diaphragm are responsible for pushing air in and out, and that compressing the diaphragm balloon quickly caused the other balloon to pop out of the top of the bottle - the same action at work in the Heimlich maneuver.

From the Faculty Blogs

Kindergartners in Alexandra Wittner's class practiced yoga with a special guest (pictured).

Fourth graders have been busy writing picture books, and a few shared their creations with Sue Delaney's first and second graders.

Third graders are studying Australia, and Amanda Diffley's class made their own didgeridoos.

Head of Middle School John Turner takes a moment to praise Foote's Lower School.

Curriculum Coordinator Lauren Goldberg writes of the careful balance struck by of our newly revised technology curriculum.
