About Field Day:
           A Note from the Head

Dear Parents,

I always enjoy Field Day - for its sense of camaraderie, excitement, and remarkable display of Foote School spirit. But this year's Field Day offered something more. At lunchtime and again after the last, breathlessly exciting relay, the Foote School community said a formal goodbye to Ted Willis. The ninth graders in particular were eloquent in their farewell. Ted has been a devoted teacher, coach, colleague, and friend at Foote for 43 years and will be sorely missed when he retires next month.

The weather and the community helped make for a perfect day! Many thanks to the Physical Education staff for planning such a terrific event, to students for their excellent efforts on the field, and to faculty, staff, and parents for providing superb encouragement and support.

Sincerely,

Carol

This is an easy way to show our appreciation for the entire faculty and staff at Foote. We will also be having our 'Flower Raffle' again this year at the breakfast, so think about donating a flower bouquet as well!  Vases are located in the Faculty Lounge.

Non-perishable items may be dropped off in the Faculty Lounge on Mon., May 13, or Tues., May 14. Please label all foods 'Faculty Breakfast.' Perishable foods should be dropped off as early as possible on Wed., May 15.

We look forward to your support for this wonderful event! Please sign up to help at our Volunteer Spot link at http://vols.pt/FHzysV.

Bird Watching

Avid bird watcher Christopher Woerner, a former Foote parent, led a group of MAG families on his annual Foote family bird walk Wed., May 1, at 7 in the morning. Families met Chris outside the Eli Whitney Museum in Hamden, where they started their walk along the Mill River behind the museum.

Early morning is the best time to see and hear birds, and East Rock Park affords viewers a diversity of bird life. Chris typically shows upwards of 40 bird species to the group on the walk.
