News on the Raffle and Drawing
| | |
We are so excited about the upcoming raffle; thank you all so much for all of your generous donations! Please note that we will continue to accept donations, including monetary donations in the form of cash or check, through
Fri., April 5.
Here are the links for the raffle baskets by grade:

Because seats were limited for the "Hamlet" event, we wanted to be sure to include all parents in this fund-raising event. Therefore, we will no longer be holding the drawing at the Hamlet pre-show party. Please save the date for Wed., May 8. The drawing will take place immediately following the Annual PTC/FSA meeting in the Sandine Theatre at 8:15 p.m. You need not be present at the drawing to win a basket. You may reserve your raffle tickets online after Spring Break, via email at ptc@my.footeschool.org, or in person during the Spring Assembly tomorrow, Fri., March 8, where a sample basket will be displayed. Tickets also will be available at the Front Desk after Spring Break. Tickets are still available for the "Hamlet" pre-show cocktail party. Click here or http://footeschool.3dcartstores.com/Party-Only-General_p_18.html for information.
Thank you again for your continued generosity.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF FOOTE
| | |
|
|
Inquiry-Based Science
| | |
The students in Kim Yap's MAG class have been learning about air and weather, and as an end-of-the-unit activity, were assigned the task of making the fastest boat possible by changing just one variable from the original design. They used the Discovery Room to test their experiments, using long water trays, fans, a raft, and a sail.

Birds for Columbus House
| | |
Eighth grade students gathered this week to create bird paintings to brighten Columbus House, a shelter and support organization for people who are homeless.
|
|
Beret Making
| | |
Angela Giannella's fourth grade students created French berets, an annual project that occurs immediately before Spring Vacation. Then they get to wear them in class!
|
|
Maple Sugaring
| | |
Each year, students witness the numerous steps required to make maple syrup, starting with the tapping of the maple trees on Foote's campus. Here, Pete Cox, a member of the maintenance staff, builds a fire in the Sacred Woods. Sap was then poured into a heat-proof pan. After reducing the sap over the fire, then cooling, straining, and boiling it, the syrup is created.

Correction

Last week's eNews misidentified the structure upon which students placed citrus fruits to celebrate the 'Fete du Citron.' The structure was a replica of the Eiffel Tower.
