Halloween Parade & Fair This Friday:
The Schedule

The Halloween Parade & Fair at Foote is this Fri., Oct. 26, from 2-4 p.m.

12:30 p.m. All School Dismissal (eighth and ninth graders will remain on campus).

(No After School Program, no practices or rehearsals)

Halloween Parade & Fair Schedule:

1:45 p.m. - Meet in classrooms

2 p.m. - Halloween Parade on middle school recess                field

4 p.m. - Fair ends

5 p.m. - Pickup for eighth graders

  • Kindergarten and MAG students will return to classrooms after the parade to meet their parents. Parents may then take their children to the Fair.
  • Third graders will meet at the hill by the art room after the parade.
  • Fourth graders will be dismissed to their parents on the middle school field at the end of the parade.
  • Fifth, sixth and seventh grade students have responsibilities at the fair and will be dismissed from the middle school field to their parents when their jobs are done.
  • Eighth grade students do not go home at 12:30 p.m. dismissal on the day of the Halloween Fair.  As the organizers of the fair, they stay at school between 12:30 and 2 p.m. to set up and decorate. They will need to bring a lunch on that day. After the fair they will clean up and, after all of their hard work is done, be treated to pizza in the Twichell Room. Pickup is at 5 p.m. Proceeds from the fair are directed to Community Service and their class gift.
  • The ninth grades also remain at school to set up and manage the food tables and food sales. Proceeds go toward their class gift.
  • Avoid lines at the fair! Buy tickets - at 25 cents each - from eighth graders in various spots on campus Thursday and Friday mornings at drop-off. Tickets will also be sold at the fair.

An Important Note:

If going home between 12:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. will be difficult for you, you are welcome to bring lunch and eat with your child at one of the picnic tables on campus. Parents of K-seventh grade students are responsible for their children from noon-1:45 p.m., and again after the parade.

Please note that the city prohibits parking on the residential side of Loomis Place.

MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS AND INFORMATION

A Note for Ninth Grade Parents

Please note that there is no school for ninth graders on Thurs., Nov. 8, and Fri., Nov. 9. It is our hope that ninth graders will take this opportunity to visit secondary schools on these days and to fulfill the requirements for the China trip deadline, which is Thurs., Nov. 15.  That includes submitting the declaration of participation and a valid passport to Foote. Financial aid requests for the trip also are due on this date. Please find the pertinent documents here

Parent-Teacher Conference Information

Parent-Teacher Conferences for grades 6-9 are scheduled for:

* Thursday, November 1, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.

* Thursday, November 8, 1:30 p.m. - 5: 30 p.m.

* Friday, November 9, 1:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Parents can expect to receive advisor reports as well as interim checklists and comments for each academic subject before conferences begin. We expect to mail these reports by Fri., Oct. 26.

Parents are asked to sign up for conferences online using the pickAtime program that worked well last year. Parents are now able to access pickAtime. Find instructions for scheduling the conferences on pickAtime the Parents page of the website.

Using pickAtime, parents should schedule one 10-minute appointment with each teacher and advisor (though it may be helpful to schedule a double appointment of 20 minutes if the student's advisor is also one of his or her teachers). Please note also that Brad McGuire (for Janet Cassarino), Colleen Murphy and Julian Schlusberg should be scheduled for advisor conferences only.

On November 8 and November 9, students in grades 6, 7, and 8, will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. Please make arrangements for students to leave at that time. The After School Program will be provided for students in grades K-6 only.

Foote students in grades K through 6 who are not regularly in the After School Program are welcome to take part in After School during parents' scheduled conference times on Thurs., Nov. 8, and Fri., Nov. 9. Please stop by the front desk before your child's conferences for word on each day's after school location.

If you have questions or need assistance in scheduling your conferences on-line, please contact Erika Villa at 203-777-3464 ext. 208 or email Erika at evilla@footeschool.org.

Sincerely,

John Turner
