Dress Guidelines for Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day, this Fri., Oct. 12, is a special day at Foote, and we would very much like to put our best foot forward (so to speak). Therefore, Assembly Dress is required.

Please follow these standards of dress for Grandparents Day:

Boys: Long pants (no jeans, sweatpants or warm-up pants) Collared shirt (button-down, golf or polo). Shirts may be long or short sleeved. (No T-shirts or sweatshirts, no writing on shirts.) Closed shoes (no flip-flops).

Girls: Pants or dress/skirt of an appropriate length (no shorts, jeans or sweat pants). Appropriate top (no spaghetti straps, T-shirts or sweatshirts; no writing on shirts.) No flip-flops.

All School Assembly dress guidelines may also be found on the Parents page of the website and in the Parents Handbook.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF FOOTE

Finding Inspiration in Eric Carle's Art

Students in Kim Yap's and Emily Buckley's classes learned how popular children's author Eric Carle made his colorful creations, such as those in "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." The students watched a film of Carle demonstrating his process, created imaginary insects with anatomically correct body parts on paper, then cut shapes from the paper to create eyes, thorax, abdomen, head, antennae, etc. The students glued the shapes onto a white piece of paper to show their understanding of an actual insect's body parts. (Insects are a unit of study in MAG this year.) A variety of art tools were used, including scrapers, combs, paintbrushes, rollers, and string.
