Seasons Greetings!

It sure seems as though the fall has flown as we prepare for a very eventful November and December here at the High Point Theatre.

Kicking off November was the amazing David Bromberg, and followed up by the Miss North Carolina U.S.A. and Teen Miss pageant.  Congrats to the new Miss and Teen Miss.

James Gregory will bring his front porch humor to us on November 16, and an addition to our schedule on November 19 is "Shakespeare on Trial", a hilarious look at the Bard as seen through the eyes of four of his most famous characters.

The Greensboro Youth Ballet will present: Nutcracker Suite for one show only on Saturday, November 23 as a wonderful way of kicking off the Holiday season.

December ramps up with our own Vocal Chords performing a Holiday Cabaret for the Friends of the Theatre.  Performances will be Thursday and Friday, Dec. 5 & 6 at 7:30pm.  Desert, coffee, cider will be available, and of course your favorite adult beverages.

Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School will grace us with their production of "White Christmas" on December 13,14 and 15, followed by a Holiday concert by the Army Ground Forces Band on Monday, December 16.

No holiday season would be complete without a performance of the Dickens' classic "A Christmas Carol".  This years' production by NC Shakes will be an unplugged performance on Dec. 20 & 22.

Rounding out the Holiday season will be the amazing music of Puddingstone on Dec. 21.

Remember tickets make wonderful gifts, and a great way to tell someone you are thinking about them beyond the holiday season.David Briggs

Best to all,

James Gregory: Funniest Man in America - Saturday, November 16 / 8 PM
James Gregory Poster
Master storyteller and world-class comedian James Gregory will be returning to the Triad to once again share his zany, rib-tickling reflections of "life from the front porch."
James is like the hilarious, beloved uncle that everyone gathers around at family reunions, because he tells the best stories. While his routines may include such Southern subjects as covered-dish suppers, road trips to Stuckey's, and the healthy aspects of fried foods, it's a mistake to consider him a regional comic. Says Gregory, "To me, Southern comedians are guys who get onstage and talk about pickup trucks, rifle racks and cow-tipping. I don't talk about the South; I just deliver my material with a Southern accent." Little wonder he has become a favorite on the comedy circuit, as an entertainer at major corporate events, a regular guest on syndicated drive-time morning radio shows including John Boy & Billy, and been featured on TV and in many prominent publications.

Shakespeare on Trial - Coming Up Tuesday, November 19 / 7:30 PM
Add a description
The High Point Theatre and NCShakes co-present Shakespeare on Trial, a clever, rollicking, two-man show performed by Off the Leash Creative, a touring company from Nova Scotia featuring Jeremy Webb and Simon Henderson.
Writer Bill Shakespeare is confronted by four of his most famous characters, Macbeth, Iago, Hamlet and Juliet. They complain to the Bard that they can no longer be understood, and need to be re-written for the modern audience. Jeremy Webb, who wrote the play, and Simon Henderson play all the characters, in a fast-paced introduction to several of Shakespeare's 'greatest hits.' The final 15 minutes of the performance invites audience interaction to demonstrate that, "The play's the thing...". The evening ends with an opportunity to talk with the actors following the show.
