Greetings!

With the chill of winter behind us and the warm glow of daylight late in the day, it is time to reflect upon some of the wonderful happenings here at the High Point Theatre, and in downtown High Point.

Along with our upcoming shows: Danu: A Spirit-Raising Concoction on March 15 and The Ninety-Miles Project on April 6, High Point Theatre is involved in creating the High Point Arts Market, an opportunity for the public to purchase fine art and crafts directly from the artisans right here in front of the theatre on the 2nd Saturday of each month.

The first Second Saturday HP Arts Market will take place on April 13, from 9am -1pm.  So far we have ten artists and craftsmen who have registered, and been juried in to show and sell their work.  I hope you will support this venture, and put this on your calendar for the Second Saturday of each month.  If you know an artist or craftsman who might be a good candidate, please have them call me:  336-883-3627 or send an email: david.briggs@highpointnc.gov and I will forward them the necessary information on how to become a High Point Arts Market artist.

Thank you for your support, and I'll see you at the theatre!

Coming Up April 6 - David Sanchez, Stefon Harris and Nicholas Payton: The Ninety Miles Project...An Unparalleled American-Cuban Jazz Experience!

Ninety Miles

Only ninety miles of ocean separate the southern-most point of the United States and Cuba. Although geographically not that far apart, politically the gap may appear impossible to bridge. But, for music enthusiasts, the universal language of music is spoken and understood by the people of both countries, just as it has been for centuries.

Three award-winning U.S. jazz artists - vibist Stefon Harris, saxophonist David Sanchez and trumpeter Christian Scott - recently traveled to Havana, collaborated with well known artists there, and recorded a distinctly unique musical collection of songs, the Ninety Miles Project. Harris, Sanchez and trumpeter Nicholas Payton will be sharing the music of Ninety Miles with Triad jazz mavens during a single live performance at the Theatre on Saturday, April 6, at 7:30 PM.

Preferred seating is still available by calling the theatre box office at (336) 887-3001 and online at www.highpointtheatre.com. You do not want to miss this unparalleled jazz experience!

It's a High Energy Celebration of the Emerald Isle with Danu: A Spirit-Raising Concoction! Coming Friday, April 6

Danu
Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, good seats are still available to experience the authentic Irish band, Danu!

Hailing directly from historic County Waterford, this highly acclaimed Irish ensemble celebrates traditional Irish music and song, transforming listeners on a musical journey back to their native Emerald Isle. Celtic music lovers around the globe have been thrilled by the ensemble's virtuoso players on fiddle, flute, button accordion, percussion and the gorgeous voice of Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh. Winner of major awards from the BBC and Irish Music Magazine, Danú is coming to the Triad for an early celebration of the "wearing of the green," in honor of the Patron Saint of Ireland, St. Patrick, on Friday evening, March 15 at 7:30 pm.

For tickets and information, please call the theatre box office at 336-887-3001 or visit us online at www.highpointtheatre.com
