Friends,

This Sunday we will be hearing the third part of Telling Our Story. Week one was telling God's story; week two was telling the story of PPPC. On Sunday we will be hearing some of the stories of individual members of our church.

Personally, I am always moved when I listen to members share their faith stories and I hope you will be as well. Those who said yes to me asking them to share are Lynn Hahm, Becky Muraglia,  Jason Paulus and Christina and Jason Parrott. We have a mix of voices representing different age groups and different areas of involvement in the life of the congregation.

The New Testament reading for Sunday comes from 1 Corinthians 12 which uses the imagery of the body of Christ in describing the Church. By using this image, the Apostle Paul, writer of this letter, reminds us that all parts of our bodies are needed for our good health and in order to function properly. If we were just an eye, we could not see or touch one another. If we did not have our fingers, we would have trouble getting dressed, eating and in fact it would be hard for us to do much of anything.

By comparing the Church to a body, Paul's point is that ALL parts of the body are needed for the good of the whole. No one part is more important nor greater than any other part. I am sure you get the message, my friends. We need ALL OF YOU to contribute you gifts and talents to PPPC in order for us to be whole. See you this Sunday in worship.

Have you sent in your Point of Special Enthusiasm yet?

The story of our church, as we journey on the path of Christian discipleship, is recorded from the rich collection of the individual stories of our members. During our journey together, each of us experiences facets of church that are especially significant to us (aspects of worship, music, education, fellowship, service, times of hardship, etc.)

Would you kindly share your "point of special enthusiasm" regarding your life at PPPC?  Is there one part of your church experience in which you delight?

The Outreach Committee has set out to gather these "points of special enthusiasm" and then share them with our church members in the coming days. Kindly describe your "point of special enthusiasm" on the form online, and place it in the basket in the narthex. Or, you may prefer to email your thoughts to Frank Perkowski at blueclaw61@verizon.net.

Thank you for taking a moment to share with us!

DONOR(S) NEEDED!
It gives the Chancel Choir much joy to bring the worship service to the congregation in music on December 13th. The words of the prophet Isaiah come to life as the Chancel Choir sings the Christmas portion of Handel's
Messiah.

Our own William R. Shoppell, Jr. will conduct the choir and soloists accompanied by organist Sara Hoey and a string quartet of professional musicians. In order to keep the music line of the church budget down, we depend on individual donations to cover this expense.

We are seeking donors to help defray this expense of $900. If you are able to make a donation of any size, please contact the church office. Any amount is greatly appreciated.

                               SUNDAY SCHOOL

Hello Everyone
Hello everyone!

Last week, the 1st-5th graders began our unit in the Disciples. Since this is a 3 week unit, we will be concentrating on 4 disciples per week. (Don't worry if you missed last week, we will review.) We learned that Jesus didn't take his brightest and best followers on his journey. He chose average men with normal lives to come and spread the word. For our activity, we had fun playing Memory with the names of the Disciples to help try to familiarize ourselves with their names.

Our Pre-K and Kindergarten friends had a lot of fun thinking about all of the gifts from God they are thankful for. They made a "Thankful Tree" with names of all the things they are thankful for on the leaves.

This week, we will continue working on our unit and learning more about the Disciples.

See you on Sunday!

Peace and Blessings,

POINT BEACH PREP

This week our Pre-K and Nursery classes explored the Element of Line with Mrs. Karen Norby, Art Educator.

They learned that there are two types of lines, STRAIGHT, made by human beings and CURVED, made by nature.  Lines make shapes.  The beginning of a line is a dot that we take for a walk.

We explored curved lines in nature, i.e. shells, leaves, even our own curved bodies.  We also explored straight lines made by machines, i.e. a pencil.  The children moved their bodies to create both curved and straight lines in a game of "Simon Says."

We observed how artist Vincent Van Gogh used curved (also know as organic) lines to show movement in his painting "The Starry Night" and how artist Piet Mondrian used straight lines, human-made or geometric to create his paintings. Children used popsicle sticks to create geometric shapes and yarn to create shapes from nature.
MISSION

Operation Christmas Child
Shoe Boxes are due November 15

Since 1993, more than 100 million boys and girls in over 130 countries have experienced God's love through the power of simple shoebox gifts from Operation Christmas Child. Once again the PW will be working with Samaritan's Purse to deliver the gifts and share the life-changing Good News of Jesus Christ.

1. Shoebox
Use an empty shoebox (standard size, please) or a small plastic container. You can wrap the box (lid separately), but wrapping is not required. Most importantly, pray for the child who will receive your gift.

2. Boy or Girl
Determine whether your gift will be for a boy or a girl, and the child's age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Print out the appropriate boy/girl label by downloading the artwork to the right. Mark the correct age category on the label, and tape the label to the top of your box.

3. Fill with Gifts
Fill the box with a variety of gifts that will bring delight to a child. Use the gift ideas provided on the bottom of this page. Please include at least one item a child can immediately embrace such as a stuffed toy, doll, ball or toy truck.

4. $7 Donation
Please donate $7 or more for each shoebox you prepare to help cover shipping and other project costs. You can write a check to Samaritan's Purse (note "OCC" on memo line) and place it in an envelope on top of the gift items inside your box. If you or your family are preparing more than one shoebox, please make one combined donation.

5. Drop Off
Place a rubber band around each closed shoebox and drop it off in the North Hall before November 15, 2015.

Gift Ideas
