Chancel Choir Recognition Friends,

Music is so integral to our whole worship experience. Be it sung words of praise or bells ringing out in joy, music expresses our thanksgiving to and love of God in ways that nothing else can. Music comes from the heart and touches the soul. It brings forth both tears and laughter.

We are blessed three times over here at Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church to have three outstanding choirs: the Chancel Choir, Dove Choir and Choral Bells Choir. We are blessed to have many choir members who  give of themselves in spades as they come to weekly rehearsals and lead us all in worship. We are blessed to have fine leadership of these choirs in the persons of Sara Hoey, Becky Muraglia and Bill Shoppell.

Over the past two weeks we have had the joy of listening to the musical talents of the Dove choir two weeks ago on their special recognition Sunday and then last week, the Bells as we recognized their gifts. This week it will be the Chancel Choir's turn for this Sunday is Chancel Choir Recognition Sunday. There will be no traditional sermon. The music that is sung, the accompanying scripture and a word about the musical piece will be the Word of God we hear.

Join us this Sunday for another musical treat in worship.

Peace and Blessings,
Pastor Linda

Chancel Choir Recognition

The third music group to be honored this spring is the Chancel Choir. The Chancel Choir meets every Thursday evening and is the most visible of the music groups in our church to be blessed with the honor of serving the congregation through music worship. Today we use the same format we have followed the past several years - a musical sermon. Pastor Linda has taken our five anthems and woven them into a very meaningful service.

On a personal note, I would like to thank the various guest vocalists who, on occasion, enhance the choir. To the regular members of the Chancel Choir family, I want you to know how much you have blessed me with your weekly music. You all are a fine instrument that I have had the privilege to play as well as members of a supportive and caring church family.

And then there's Sara. What can be said after thirty-three years of her being my right hand in so many musical endeavors? Sara, you are the best; truly my musical "church wife"! Many thanks and much love to each and every one in the Chancel Choir.

The Chancel Choir, Sara and I are most grateful, too, for the continued support of this congregation. Today's anthems were purchased with monies from the estates of Norma Appel and Audrey Pearce. We are thankful for these donations.

Remember, there is a robe in the choir room waiting to be worn by YOU.

The Summer Heat
campaign is coming close!

Our goal is $25,000 in special gifts and pledges, for new boilers to heat the Education Annex and the church offices and Nursery.  Pledges may be paid over a six-month period.

$19,297 has been given or pledged to date out of the $25,000 needed. Thank you to all who have given or pledged!

If you've been sitting by and waiting to see what happens, now's the time to join your friends who have already made a commit- ment. If we all pitch in, we'll make our goal. Please pray for the success of this campaign and check out the giving thermometer in the Sanctuary to track further progress. Thank you!

(The giving thermometer goes up to $20,000, the cost to replace the CE Annex boiler; $25,000 is the total needed for both buildings.)

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Sunday School Update

I can't believe the Sunday School year is almost over!

Last week we learned about what Jesus meant when he said we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world.  We designed and made our own "candles" to remind us to let our light shine!

This week, we will be reviewing what we have learned over the past year.  We will play some review games and work on a fun craft or two.

Next week will be the last day of Sunday School and we will be having our end of the year party!  Please let me know if you will be able to bring a treat to share.

See you Sunday!   Peace and blessings,

Tricia Stoffers
Sunday School Coordinator

POINT BEACH PREP

Point Beach Prep Ends the School Year Well!

Happy Graduation! Wow!  It is hard to believe the school year is over.  We have had another great year here at Point Beach Prep!  Our students have learned so much!  Over the year, our class built their knowledge of letters and letter sounds by meeting all of our letter dolls from A-Z.  They learned letter recognition and brainstormed words that started with each letter. They learned a sight word for each letter.  They learned the sign language for each alphabet letter, and a sign language word. They practiced writing their letters with pencil power.  They also enjoyed bringing in a Show and Tell item weekly for the different letters!

We have all had so much fun, it is hard to believe we were learning the whole time!  (Shhh!!!)  Thank you for a wonderful year.  We wish our graduating students best of luck in kindergarten, we will miss them dearly!  We are looking forward to seeing all of our returning students in September!  Have a safe and happy summer!
